Does anyone from this year's admissions cycles know anything about the tax LR scholarships or graduate tax program scholarships (or, I guess, the Wallace scholarship)?
1- are recipients notified in their acceptance letters or later? If later, then how much later?
2- have any of you received one of these scholarships? If so, what are your stats?
And, of course, if you know any other details about these scholarships, let me know.
Thx.

from what I've understood, all the scholarships recipients have been notified in their acceptance letters
last year, some scholarships were awarded only after enrollement but I've had several confirmations (nyu, admitted students) that it won't be the case this year
a guy from brazil has been offered the wallace scholarship (he said it here, somewhere) but he's withdrawn his application (for harvard) and told me nyu told him that the wallace fund wasn't available anymore, since someone else (who had aslo been offered the scholarship within his admission pack) accepted the scholarship !

I received a letter of admission to NYU on Mar. 18. On Mar. 31 I received a letter offering me a Tax Law Review scholarship.

I received my J.D. magna cum laude from Washington Univ. in St. Louis, class rank in the top 8%. I was pretty psyched about the NYU scholarship because from what I could tell, most of their LLM scholarships were awarded to international students, so I didn't think my chances as an American student were that great.

Nice. Congrats again :)

Phantomlaw, are you a 3L or do you have work experience after law school? May I ask what tax classes you took and how you did? I am a current JD 3L from a comparable school. NYU accepted me pretty quickly -- within two weeks of my application going complete, but no scholarship. I had desperately been hoping for a Graduate Tax Scholarship. Any information you can provide would be very much appreciated. Congratulations!

I earned my J.D. in '08. I went straight from law school into a U.S. District Court clerkship. I forgot to mention I was on the Law Review at WashU.
The only tax class I took in law school was federal income tax. I received the second-highest grade in that class out of 110 students in the course.

according to the graduate admissions people at the school, merit scholarship decisions have not been released yet (though obviously some folks -- e.g. tax LR recipients -- have begun to hear) and they will be mailed separately from the admissions letters.
