I'm heading to UF.

deaconcav06,
I have been watching this board for the past couple days but I have not posted a message yet. I saw in your previous post that you were between UF and Georgetown (and put a deposit at georgetown) but have decided to go to UF. I haven't heard back yet from Georgetown and was hoping that since you decided to go to UF, will you let Georgetown know of your intention and hopefully open up a spot for someone else (hopefully me)? Thanks.

Heeey everyone... I am so confused also... I was accepted to UF and Fordham in NY. George Washington too, but I am not considering it anymore. I am not much intereted in Taxation.,.. I have applied to the International and Comparative program. Please heeelp. What school would be best? The rankings are not so helpful... thksssssss a lot!

AMF, did you get accepted to UF for the llm in taxation? If so, that is quite an honor! But if you are not much interested in taxation, then you should NOT do the program. The entire focus is on tax and it is very intense ... even for those who especially like tax and want a career in tax.

DeaconCav06, Congratulations on your decision! I know how difficult this process turned out to be for you. How do you feel now that you've made a decision?

Crescent1841, I cannot remember if you mentioned before whether you were going to Georgetown or NYU (I think you had narrowed it down to those two)?

I chose NYU. It has always been a dream of mine to live in NYC for a year. That being said - if I had received a scholarship to GULC I would have gone there. However, since both programs would cost me about the same I chose New York. Very excited to start in the Fall! Now I'm working on housing and I'm planning a trip there in July.

I feel really good about the decision. I really want to end up working in the southeast and I knew that I didn't want to live in NYC as a student. I lived there as a summer associate and it was a lot of fun, but I just couldn't see going to school there.
In the end, the chance to save a signficant amount of money and the size of the program swayed me to UF. I also think, I'll just generally be a better student there.

That is great!
I'm going to NYU.
My main reason for choosing NYU is I may end up looking for a job in either the mid-Atlantic region or California (I'm a member of the MD, DC, and CA bars).
Also, like with Crescent, the cost would be the same for me to attend Georgetown or NYU. Since I've lived in DC before, but not NYC, this seems like a good opportunity to experience life in NYC.
But I do have my worries about the cost in general and also how I will fare as a student in NYC. I've always gone to schools in more rural areas!

Hey ectax! I'm from a small place and I worry a little bit about the adjustment to big city life. I envision doing a lot of studying at the law school. I have a friend who went to NYU for law school and he said the spaces are so nice there that you end up spending more time there hanging out with friends, etc., than in your tiny apartment. :-) I am really excited about trying something totally different. And if you don't like it, well we're only there for 10 months!

Has anybody that was accepted to UF heard anything regarding Graduate Tax fellowships? I may just start a new thread but thought there were a few people that had applied on this one.

I have a similar question. Does anyone know if all the scholarships have been awarded for NYU llm taxation program?
Posted May 04, 2011 01:17
I emailed NYU today to ask about the scholarships...I will post when I get a response.

NYU responded that all the tax scholarships have been given out
