Could you elaborate a litle on your background? For instance, what is your specialization field, what are your goals for the LLM, and what do you hope to do after the LLM?

Sure, my specialization field is international law and after the LLM I am not sure yet but I could either return to my country or stay in USA. I would also like to do an internship.

I am really into politics, that is why DC is so atractive for me but I am also in love with NYU, and the UN too. As you can see I'm a little confused, in fact even during the application process, I didn't have a 1st choice because I could not decide between NYU and Georgetown but at this time I am more into NYU I think.

go for NYU. NYU is number 1 in international law rankings, and has very good faculty, eg Benedict Kingsbury, JHH Weiler, etc.

Hi! I am going to Georgetown, and my field of specialization is also International Law. Last week, I went to the admitted students website and found a list of current students avaiable to give advice to the admitted students. I talked to three people of my country, and they showed me lots of opportunities in our field for Georgetown LLMs in DC, as getting externships and permanent jobs in International Organizations and governmental entities. There are also opportunities in law firms (please note that most of the biggest american firms have their International Trade and International Arbitration team located in DC- see, for example, Sidley Austin and Dewey Ballantine websites)
If I were you, I would contact a current student before deciding!
NYU is really the #1 in rankings (Georgetown in #3), it is certainly a great school with a very special faculty in this field. You could also try to talk to someone there!

I agree with pnb´s statement. Apart from rankings (it is true that NYU is #1 in this field), you might ask the admissions offices of both universities to provide you with the contact details of alumni of your country. They might help you and give you good advice. In addition, maybe your decision should take into account where you want to work after the LLM: if your intention is to work at the UN or its agencies, NYU may be the best call; on the other hands, if you are considering other institutions (like the World Bank), you could have a better networking in Washington.

Hi, i'm going to NYU for its International Legal Studies. But I kinda doubt the employability of such a LLM degree now. Is it difficult to get a job (even an internship) in law firms with the specialization of international commercial transactions or international commercial arbitration?
THX~~~
