Hi, all
I am about to submit my LLM application to NYU but have one question on the recommendation letters.
NYU prospectus says "One academic letter of recommendation is required for application the full-time LL.M. program, the part-time LL.M. program, and the E-LL.M. program. You may submit only one additional academic or professional letter if you wish to do so."
It apparently reads one required, one optional, so up to two recommendations. Then, what if I submit three? Would I be subject to any disadvantage (for example, one of them will not be reviewed)?
My situation is that I received three recommendations (as some of you did for law schools other than NYU), and the three referees know me from different perspectives and capacities, so it is hard for me to pick and give up one of them.
I would be grateful if you could share some idea or experience.
Thanks in advance.

they will review only two of them.
I remember reading soemthing about "you need to decide which referees will know your work best bla bla" so just pick the two that you think might have been the best ..

I was accepted last year at NYU and provided them with 4 letters. However, i don't know if they reviewed the 4 of them.
Just to mention it should not be a disavantage
good luck

I think the rule makes sense, as you gotta draw a line somewhere. I can assure you, that you're not the only one who finds himself in this kind of "dilemma" but at the end of the day you need to cope with the fact that no applicaiton will ever be "perfect". If no one obeys the rules we could just as well start a competition of who can provide the most letters, write the longest personal statements and submit the most extensive CVs. It's not only a question of capacties of the Boards of Admissions, it's also, and this might sound old-fashioned and naive but still, a matter of fair play.
I am sure that the universities will appreciate what should be natural to lawyers anyway: adhering to rules.
