NYU llm v. WUSTL

wcandy

Would you help me with my choice between NYU and WUSTL?
Both are LLM offers. But if I go to WUSTL Ill try to transfer to JD, so I just take the WUSTL offer as a JD offer here.
I know that NYU would be my best choice if I want to end up with an LLM, but since the career prospects in China would not be so good for NYU llms, I guess a JD may be much better. So I have three options here:
1. Go to WUSTL to transfer to JD. But some people say that Wash U is not as good as its ranking suggests, and they wonder whether I would get a good job if Im not within top 30% of the class. (Is that true?)
2. Abandon both offers, stay in China for another year, take LSAT, and apply for JD directly. I guess even if I could not get into T14 then, schools like UT would be possible for me.
Or 3. Go for NYU llm, then come back to work for 2 or 3 years to earn some money, take LSAT and apply for JD. But the disadvantage is the waste of time, money and energy.
I think the most ideal situation for me is to work in the US for 2 or 3 years after JD graduation and then come back go China. I didnt plan to stay in America for long, but considering the long term development, I guess JD would still be much better than LLM for me.
I still dont know much necessary information, so would you please help me with my choice.

Congratulations!
Both schools are worth to study in.

If I were you, I would take the choice 2.
Since your ultimate goal is to obtain a JD degree. I've heard that transfering from LLM to JD is more diffcult than taking LSAT directly.

btw, I'm from Taiwan.
Nice to meet you here.

Well, when it comes to Wash U, transfer might be easier.
Thanks for you advice! Nice to meet you, too!

The difference may be that the job market of WUSTL is much smaller than that of UT. What if I'm only within 50% in WUSTL? Does that mean that I cannot get a job?
Actually I don't have such an expectation to go nowhere other than big law, I think a middle firm is also ok with me, but I don't know difficult it is to get into a middle firm.

Moreover, considering the bad economy, the competition for JD application next year may be greater than now, so does it mean that the chance for scholarship is slimmer than this year?
