Hi Everyone,
I'm an applicant from India. Have received admission offers from NYU (IBRLA) on 29th Jan and Columbia (General) on 14th Feb. Columbia has however denied offering financial aid, while NYU is still considering it. Few questions that you can help me with:
1) Has anyone received a decision on their financial aid request from NYU?
2) Which school to choose from, in terms of better job prospects?
Honestly, there isn't too much of a difference between NYU and Columbia in terms of quality. Columbia is usually seen as being more prestigious because of the Ivy League tag. Ultimately, the choice is up to you, but you can't go wrong with either NYU or Columbia!
However, if you're looking at doing an LLM just to increase your chances of getting a job, it may, in my opinion, be better to choose CLS over NYU. However, as you might be aware, landing a job in the US as a foreign lawyer with an LLM is extremely, extremely tough.
As regards your first question, I haven't heard back from NYU regarding financial aid. I reckon that that communication will happen sometime around March 17-21.
