NYU LLM 2019-2020 Applicants

Hi everybody!

I wanted to start a new post for applicants to the NYU LLM program starting in 2019.

For those applicants with foreign education credentials, the application deadline is December 20, 2018.

I have not yet submitted my application. I have asked for a letter of recommendation from my academic advisor. I know that only one letter is required, but I am now considering getting another one, to help my odds.

Anyway, is anybody else looking to apply to NYU? Let's all check in here!

Hi!
I have just submitted my application! I have 7 universities that I would like to apply to, but I got NYU's application done first as the IBRLA LLM is the one I'm gunning for.
I hope they get back to us soon.

The NYU LLM page says this:

"It is strongly recommended (though not a requirement) that mailed application materials be received at LSAC two weeks before the application deadline."

Does anybody know if there would be any drawbacks to having them sent closer to the application deadline? (say the week of December 10...)

It's usually better to apply as early as you can.

LSAC takes at least two weeks to process your information, especially transcripts, so if you send your documents to LSAC on December 10, the report will not be ready by the deadline. However, as far as I know NYU will accept the application as long as you submit it on time. Obviously, it will take longer to get an answer.

Hi guys! I hope this isn’t a stupid question.. i was wondering whether it’s possible to have your documents processed by LSAC (transcript, letters of recommendation, etc) before actually completing the LSAC application? I’ve completed most of the application besides the personal statement, but want to get the ball rolling straight away the other parts.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure I understand your question. In any case, you can submit your applications before your documents have been processed by LSAC. When LSAC releases your report, it will go automatically to the schools you've applied to.

I applied on 22 October - best to contact them, yes! Have you checked your online status checker?

I received mine a week and a half after. My recommendation letter wasn't processed until after I sent my application. Once they received my rec letter, it went complete and was sent to the graduate admissions committee.

Hey guys, do you know approx. when we can expect to hear from NYU? I mean, if I'm right, they have a rolling admission process, so is there anyone who already received their decision?

I believe it starts by Jan (based on what I've seen here on LLM Guide). I know they do keep sending admissions through may/june, as some admitted applicants choose not to enroll.
