an LLM from any ABA approved law school will suffice, which is all of them in the top 100 or so. it doesn't have to be from a school in NY (HLS is not in NY btw!) - unless you have an english LLB, in which case you don't even need the LLM - but it's recommended.

There are people who take the NY Bar even without an LLM.
