NYU Application 2020-2021

Hi, I have been admitted to the LLM in International legal studies. On March 11th I decided to pay the deposit before knowing about the scholarship. I read on the admitted student page that after the payment I would have had received an email containing my University ID Number and my NetID. As of today, I did not receive it. I have sent two emails to the graduate office in order to understand why and to check the scholarship status. Do you guys think that the admission office suspended its activities due to the coronavirus outbreak?

Hi LuciaM, I was also admitted to the same program and paid the deposit before knowing about the scholarship. I understood it shouldn't effect their decision on whether to grant a scholarship or not, but then I guess it kinda takes away bargain leverage since you won't be able to mention higher offers you might have recieved from other schools, in case NYU's will be lower. But lets hope for the best!
And with regards to the NetID, it took them about two weeks after I paid the deposit to send me the email on confirmation on enrollement. So I guess you shouldn't wait for too long now. Good luck!

Just received an email that I got the Hauser Scholarship. In total disbelief. Also very conflicted, I got admitted to Harvard as well (waiting on financial aid decisions), so I don't know which one to choose. Which is better; NYU LL.M as a Hauser scholar or a Harvard LL.M? Need opinions!!!

Congrats! I suppose it depends what you want to do with your LLM. I'd probably take the scholarship, since I assume it would look better on a CV (~180 Harvard students compared to 10 or so scholarship recipients).

Hauser scholar since I think you will return to academia. If not, or if affordability is no factor, Harvard will always look better. But I know a lawyer who chose Hauser over Harvard and he's happy with it.

Congratulations to the scholarship recipients! I wonder. Does anyone know if all financial aid decisions come out in one day or is there still a sliver of a chance for more scholarship offers?

Congrats!! How are your finances like? I would take Harvard if I could afford it since the name will stay on your resume forever, whereas money can always be earned back (especially since you will have a bright legal career ahead of you). You only have one shot at an LLM and don't want to look back and regret passing up on the opportunity to study at Harvard. But if you have to go into serious debt to attend, then taking the Hauser would make more sense.

Does anyone know if you are informed if you did not get a funding offer? Are they all released at the one time or is it staged over the next few days?

I would think it's a no for Hauser. But I'm wondering... if any of the Hauser or Vanderbilt scholars decline their scholarships, can there be an upgradation of the scholarship award? Does anyone know if this happens?

Received the Dean's Graduate Award, too. But compared to other law school's scholarships it is a relatively small amount.. Does anyone know if NYU is up for negotiating about the amount or matching other scholarships?

Just received Dean's Scholarship of $15K. UPenn offered $10K, UCLA $30K, Columbia $0, Berkeley $Pending.

It's a hard decision - if NYU are up for bargaining then I'll consider it! Right now it's looking like UCLA as I want to work in Los Angeles.

Been offered a 25k Deans Graduate award. I’m super happy. But also have a place at Cambridge which is still 1/3 of the price even after the scholarship. Not sure what to do. I want to study public international law and both have fantastic reputations. What do people think? I did my undergraduate in the UK...
