New 2013 NY bar rules for Foreign LL.Ms

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can inform me of whether students with a bachelor of law degree from common law countries are obligated to take certain US law courses in order to be eligible to sit for the NY bar. I've read through the 2013 rules and i did not perceive any direct reference to such LL.M. students apart from the requirement that they must be enrolled full time in their master's program and must not take more than 4 summer course credits.

All advice would be greatly appreciated.

AS far as I know rules have changed and now you will need a JD to take the bar in NY. Take it in MA.

As far as I am aware if your degree is a Qualifying Law Degree, then you are eligible to apply for the New York Bar provided you didn't get it by distance learning. In any event please apply to the BOLE to evaluate your Foreign Law Degree and ensure that all your law school(s) transcripts are forwarded directly by the awarding institution(s) to the BOLE with your BOLE ID on each transcript. Hope this assists.
