My chances of getting into Harvard Law School

mikkoo

Hi,

I have a LLB degree from the University of London International Programme with a 2:2 but I've been working since I graduated in 2010. I have also published a few papers and presented these abroad. I got a 112 on my TOEFL and I'm sure I can get at least 3 good recommendations, 2 from professors and 1 from my boss current boss. Can any of you let me know if I have any chance of getting in? I applied to a few US universities last year but I applied in March and got into 5, but nothing prolific really. I do like the sound of UC Davis though. But on the other hand, Harvard is Harvard. I've applied for the Fulbright and if I get it, I plan on applying to Harvard. Can anyone advise me on what my chances are?

It's practically impossible to get into Harvard with a mere 2:2.

No judgement on you, though.

I agree...I don't think you will get in.. not to say that you can't but when compared with most applicants who are very very high achievers with many publications, prizes, top of class and even some of them judges.

Harvard isn't everything. There are many schools within the T14 that you could potentially have a shot and are still exceptionally good schools and less competitive such as the University of Texas at Austin, UVA and the likes.
Vanderbilt is also very good.

I would recommend applying to Texas and see if you can get in.

Hey,
I have a 2:1 and I have decided to apply. A lot of people say its not just the grades but also the whole package (diversity, the SOP etc).
I am hoping 16 months experience as a law clerk at the supreme court will kind of gloss over the grades.
Any views? Do you guys reckon it will be worth a shot?
( Mikoo_ ,I hope you dont mind me gatecrashing into the post.)

A 2:1 generally is not good enough to get into Harvard.

I don't see how any clerkship could change this.

Just my two cents.

Good luck for your applications.

I was not implying that anything would change.
I was just under the impression that strong credentials in the CV are also a factor in being considered for an admissions.
Of course, I see your point. I am sure Harvard has people applying to it with stellar grades and a strong CV, who will always be preferred over someone with a 2.1. Thank you for your feedback.
A reality check always helps.

Hi guys, after your application complete, does anyone receive a letter from Harvard for external scholarship? Maybe I just think too much, it means nothing.
