Has all admissions been sent out. I havent heard anything from them
Posted Mar 16, 2011 14:42
Neither have I. In fact they haven't even replied to my email about a status update. Need I worry? Unnecessary question. I'm already worried.

I emailed the university a few days ago regarding this matter since my application went completed on december, and they mentioned that SOME admission email has been out, BUT there are still MANY application under reviewed. The admission process can last until early April. So let's not worry to much about this =) Good luck to you all!

Same here. I am still waiting. No news. I take it as bad news. Strange way to send out admission and non-admission decision - complete silence when the other university are sending their admission and non-admission letters clear and loud. :(

Got admitted at berkeley. No news from Umich. Need to answer bearkeley before the end of the month. If umich doesnt speed things up. I might go to Berkeley instead!

Finkel:same here..berkeley deadline is April 5th...is umich on its spring break or something?
Posted Mar 20, 2011 04:31
Finkel: good idea to UC Berkeley rather than U. of Michigan, it will not be bad at all. At least the climate is much better in Oakland than in Ann Arbor :). Best of luck.

haha sour grapes..im inclined to agree! im confused between berkeley and NYU tho...weather is a huge thing in favour of berkeley..and for NYU its the whole NYC thing!

I reckon the weather is better in Calfornia, but what speaks in favour of Michigan and NYU are their better rankings (U.S. News 2012, Best Law Schools).
Furthermore, I think NYC is the greatest city in the world to be student (even thoungh London comes close), it is so exciting as whole, albeit I am a bit biased, but one shoul;d not underestimate the sheer unlimited possobilities in New York (and the networking oppourtunities).

thanks deepblue. u have a point....especially coz my specialisation is corporation law and not IP.

With respect to ranking, we are talking about 3 fabulous school (same level of education). Regarding University of Michigan, it is not as well known outside the US than UC Berkeley or NYU. In my country, if I say that I graduated from UC Berkely or NYU people will say . U. of Michigan does not have the same impact, really. If you are however in Corporate Law, NYC is the place to be. No doubt. Best of luck.

Would you say that is also true among lawyers and law firms?
I see a big difference of perception when talking about US schools between friends/people working in a totally different area and others that work as lawyers/study law.

Hey guys i decided to send michigan an email yesterday concerning my application status. They replied by telling me that they already sent snail mail to me on 9th March(havnt received it). However they told me that it was a rejection letter. All the best guys to those who are still waiting.
I think i can now decide whether to go to BU or cornell for corporate law, which one do you think is better if i want to get practical training after the LLM in the US?

I am so suprised that UMich. only send their result by original mail instead of email first!? It sounds time-wasting...Hope I belongs to the group of the March 9th mailing list...cause it makes me nervious about inquiring them directly though online system....
Anyway, hope we all got a possitive reply...
