LSAC Delay Question

Hi everyone,

I'm a Canadian applying to Harvard, Columbia and Yale. All my applications are off. LSAC has had my law school transcript for over two weeks (they've had my undergrad one before then) yet I'm still "under review." Yale's drop-dead deadline is in less than two weeks and LSAC of course isn't responding to e-mails which makes me worry about getting everything done on time.

I originally thought using LSAC would be "easier" but I'm now questioning this.

Any advice (should I send transcripts within a week of deadlines if they're running close?) would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Canuck Potential

P.S.: Harvard hasn't requested my report, even though I submitted that application three weeks ago.

2 weeks is quite normal for the LSAC... after 3 weeks, you should begin to worry.

Well, Columbia requested my report the day I submitted my application. However, from my last year experience, some schools are slower than others. I still did not send Harvard's application this year, so I can't tell you more.

I also thought going through LSAC was a good idea until I tried getting in touch with them. Also "under review" and waiting. I am really wondering whether I will make it by the deadlines of early December...

HI

I am from Belgium.

This is my problem:

1. two weeks ago I had my transcripts sent. That is to say, My registrar refused to use a mail service that would quickly send my transcripts over. So he gave the sealed envelope to me. Then I put it in a mail package and put the address of LSAC on it and the address of my registrar as "sender". It arrived two days after. Will it be a problem that I sent it? (Which they can't actually see)

2. Yesterday I discovered the b...... just put in the official english translation offered by the law schoo land forgot to add the native dutch transcripts. I went to him and he immediately put the same transcripts in dutch in a sealed envelope (just for being safe I also had him fill out a transcr req form again) and he made a note that I had asked him to send these ducht transcripts. Again, not willing to send it by fed ex, he gave the sealed envelope to me and I put it in a fedex package and sent it to LSAC, it arrived today. But I sent it under my address and my name. (Though in a sealed envelope with the official stamps and letterhead).

Question 1: Will the fact that i fedexed it be a problem? (the first transcripts were "sent under the name of the registrar" remember)

Q 2. WIll this slow donw the "three weeks process" a lot??

Q.3. the first transcripts arrived on Oct 26th. Do you think I can make nov. 15th to have my reports?

thanks guys

Answer to question 1: As long as the envelopes were sealed properly this shouldn't be a problem.

Answer to question 2: I doubt that they'll make it by Nov 15. My impression so far is that procedure is slooooow. Guess that's the way it goes if one is dealing with monopolies.

Thanks so much...

Will I make december the 1st then You think?

More people with views on my questions?

Lets say a deadline (hard deadline) is november 15th for one LL.M. program... Does that mean that LSAC should also have a report by that time?

I simply don't know. I am praying that the answer is yes because I am in the same position as you. Have given up hope regarding the Nov 15 deadline. For Dec 1 it is: tant que je respire , j'espère...

I was told that application closing deadline does not mean LSAC reporting deadline - LSAC has a separate deadline to report. Therefore, do not fret!

Fair enough. But I'd like to be considered for Early Review at CLS. (Everything else was there on time.)

If Gregor 2009 is correct then this would mean good news. Everything (apart from documents through LSAC) was delivered to CLS before Nov 1st. Therefore, I should have made the deadline, I guess...

That was what LSAC told me so it is definitely correct. I am trying to ascertain LSAC's deadline for reporting to CLS though.

Honestly, I do not trust the guys from LSAC too much. First of all, I don't think it is them who decide whether we make the deadline or not but rather the respective university. Secondly, I believe they are primarily interested in not being rushed by us. So of course they will pretend that we will not miss any deadline even though they work slowly.

Hey guys just a couple of questions for you.
I sent my transcripts over a month ago to LSAC and just today received a notification that they have been received. Does this mean that it will take another 2-3 weeks for them to evaluate them for my report to be sent to schools? If this is the case how will this work with a december 15th deadline looming? All of my applications have been submitted already online, but now I am somewhat concerned about this major lag in LSAC evauation time..

Thanks for any repsonses.

Cheers

Hey,
I have kind of the same problem. I sent my transcripts to lsac months ago and they processed it within one business day. However, after finishing my first application they have not been able to evaluate my transcripts since November 11. I contacted them and they told me that the evaluation should take 15 business days. As these have already passed I mailed them again but it seems they do not answer emails anymore.

I decided not to worry too much. If universities decide to accept transcripts via lsac they will have to deal with the delays caused by their unsufficient work.

Cheers,
bonbere

Yeah I spoke with Columbia,NYU, Stanford and chicago yesterday and they said as long as your documents have been sent to LSAC and your application has been completed before the deadline that is considered a complete application and they will simply wait for the report. So no worries i guess

Hi you guys!!!

I was roaming around questions and questions regarding all the procedures of LSAC and I am still stuck in one of them:

When you send to LSAC all your transcripts you should provide the originals + a certified translation of each transcipt OK?

There is also written that they don't want you to send the transcripts by yourself but it has to be done by the Institution/ University which issued the certificate. Tipically University tell you to mail them by yourself and do not want to send the transcripts for you. Moreover there are a lot of institutions which could issue transcripts and in my case some of them are in another country ( for example expereinces abroad ).

I provided LSAC with all the original documents + certified translations but I am a lil worried because I have received the documents by every single Institution/University and then send them all to LSAC.

What would you say?
