LLM in NY for a foreign student

DSlawyer
Hi everyone,

I'm a french law student living in New-York since 2016.

I'm interesting about applying the next year 2020-2021 for an LLM at NYU or Columbia in NYC.

Does anyone already did it?

Do you have a schedule to share? I would like to know the daily hours, if there is homework to submit every day, how is the training? How many class do you have? When are the final exams?
When does the semester start?

I need to know how intense it can be before I apply because I'm also a mother and I do not want to be engaged on something that I'm not prepared for it.

Also, does anyone from France as well got an LLM in NYC and then passed the bar in NY ? If so, how was it? The LLM was enough as a preparation to pass the bar?

Thank you!

Hi,
I am not from France but I can tell you about my experience. I was an LLM at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and I can say that the LLM is definitely not enough to prepare you for the bar exam! As LLMs, we don't have enough time to take all the 7 core subjects tested on the MBE.
I prepared for the Bar Exam with BARBRI and it was great! BARBRI offers programs designed for foreign-trained attorneys on a part-time basis.
Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

Juliana,

Is this the 5k program? Is it possible to share with another person (aka: watching the lectures twice)?

Yes, this is the $5,995 program!
No, it's not possible to share the program with another person, because your Personal Study Plan will adapt according to your progress. You can watch the lectures twice, but it's impossible to share with another person.
In addition, you will have a mentor who will assist you.
Let me know if you need more details about the program!
