To those who want to go to UCLA school of law and take the International specialization,
I am a current LLM student at UCLA school of law.
After many issues with the classes taught at UCLA, I just wanted to let you know that if you are interested in the international specialization you shouldn't choose UCLA because half of the classes they say are offered are not taught and they keep cancelling classes at the very last minute.
They are not even teaching any arbitration class or alternative dispute resolution or litigation class not even class actions class (interesting for a university which is supposed to be one of the top ones in the US).
Plus I have to say that because we are taking the same classes as the JD, enrollment is very difficult and many of my classmates couldn't get the classes they wanted. So we ended up taking classes that are not really what we studied or practice in our home countries (how interesting...!!)
Anyways, if you need any information about UCLA, feel free to ask me and please don't believe everything they are telling you on the website.... most of it is just marketing... you will be very surprised!!
International studies?? forget about UCLA

Thanks for the info. I just cancelled UCLA.

I feel your pain. Must suck not to get what you promised. Especially with the very expensive tuition.
Have you considered suing UCLA for breach of contract? ;) I remember we had a couple of law suits like that in my country, and the plaintiffs actually got their tuition back. At the very least they should have gotten you into the classes actually taught within your field of interest.

Oh my god. How, how can they---?

How appalling. I think its wonderful that you have chosen to inform others of the real situation at UCLA.. With the tuition these universities charge, we all deserve them to deliver on their promises once we start studying there.

Can someone share his/her personal experience about UCLA LL.M. program? Did they really keep canceling the courses?? There are some bad comments about UCLA LL.M. program in my country(i.e. don't care about LL.M. students), hope it's not true....like to hear different voice..
I am interesting about UCLA LL.M. program because UCLA offer an opportunity to transfer LL.M to JD(LSAT not required), so I also want to know did UCLA ever accept this transfer before?
Thanks :-)

does anyone know about the situation at USC? I spoke to the dean there and it sounded very promising. They seem to care about their llm students, but students opinions can be so different...
UCLAbruin: do you know if tax courses were cancelled at UCLA too? how about the Chinese Law course?
Thanks!
