How to Pay?

Hi all,

A lot of schools say they accept payment (of the deposit - not sure about the total fee) by the following methods:

1) Cheque drawn on a US Bank
2) Money Order

How exactly is everyone paying their deposits? How is option #1 helpful to anybody if, presumably, banks such as Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds (all UK banks) presumably don't meet this requirement? If the majority of LLM students are non-US nationals, how many can actually pay by cheques drawn on a US bank?

And as for option #2 - doesn't it cost a ton to send money by money order? When I sent my application fee, it worked out about 10% on top!

Am I right in my assumptions about option #1? How is everyone else paying their deposits?

most of the people arrange this with some friend who's got account with a US bank and so they issue a check for you.
god luck
