Hello,
I wanted some help with understanding the US GPA system. I've just graduated from a top UK law school with a 2:1. I am going to do my professional qualification course to practice in the UK but wanted to do an LLM in the US after I finish the LPC. I want some advise on which universities are good for International law (IVY and Non-IVY league) and if possible, could someone tell me convert the UK Degree Classifications into US GPA. So, I know roughly what GPA's the US unis would be looking for?
Thanks

Hi, To my knowledge there is no direct relation between the two grading systems though I spent a year studying in the UK and made a 2:1 myself (the drinking man's 1:1) yet maintained a 3.3 in the US. Ours is on a scale of 1-4, with a 4.0 being perfect (A), a 3.0 being good (B), a 2.0 being average (C)...with a 0 failing. The conversion is not exact. As for the international law courses, the really expensive private schools are usually the best.
