Has anyone received an "application complete" email from HLS?

Also, my LSAC Report had been sent already on October 29!

Same here...

I have submitted my application on November 29.
Only my application and paper recommendation have been marked "received" in the tracking system.
Everything else is marked "No current status. Please check back later".

Is this normal?
Anyone else in this situation?

This is taking my sleep...

I don't know if it's normal, but my online recommendations have still no status (they were submitted six weeks ago). Same for my paper recommendation. My application is received, and my law school's transcript is complete (I used the LSAC) but my other transcripts have no status.

Basically, only one paper recommendation (out of three) was mailed; other materials were either submitted online, or sent by LSAC. So i'm not too worried.

I guess they will tell us if anything is missing.

How long it took to your LSAC-submitted transcripts to appear as received/complete?

Mine were also submitted through LSAC, which states they were sent on October 29, but there is no update regarding my transcripts (or TOEFL results, for that matter) in the status tracking system...

Received after 2 weeks, and complete a few days after. But there is no reason to be worried: they simply have not started to look at your application.

Yeah, it makes sense. I'll wait.

I just received this email:

"Dear --,

Thank you for submitting your LL.M. application to the Graduate Program at Harvard Law School. We are in the process of reviewing your file.We encourage you to use the Track your status feature to check periodically for updated information on the status of your application. The Track your Status link is found at the bottom of the Home page of the online application. Decisions regarding TOEFL and fee waiver requests will also be available on your Applicant Status Page.

As we receive various items in connection with your application (e.g., transcripts, TOEFL scores), we will update the status of your application as quickly as possible. However, with the very large volume of mail we receive during this time of year, there may be a lag of two weeks or more before the status of a particular item is updated on the Applicant Status Page.

Note that the tracking of these items (e.g., transcripts, recommendations, TOEFL scores, etc.) is a multi-stage process, so it is possible that some of your submitted materials will be tracked before others, even if they were sent together in the same package.

For your application to be considered complete, the items under your Applicant Status Page should be indicated as follows:

* Applicatio n Status: Received
* Check/Money Order Status (if applicable): Received
* Fee Waiver Decision (if applicable): Waived
* LSAC Report Status (if applicable): Received
* Official TOEFL Score Report (if applicable): Received
* Recommendation 1 Status: Received
* Recommendation 2 Status: Received
* Recommendation 3 Status (if applicable): Received
* Recommendation 4 Status (if applicable): Received
* Recommendation 5 Status (if applicable):Received
* TOEFL Waiver Decision (if applicable): Waived
* Transcript Law School : Received
* Transcript Other School 1 (if applicable): Received
* Transcript Other School 2 (if applicable): Received
* Transcript Other School 3 (if applicable): Received
* Transcript Other School 4 (if applicable): Received

Important notice about online recommendations:

To track the status of recommendations, please click on the Recommendations link located in the menu options found in the top left corner of your online application. This will take you to a page titled Step 5: Recommendations, where you will be able to see the status of your respective online recommendation(s). Recommendations already submitted will be indicated by the status Received.

Finally, please do not contact our office to inquire about your application status and whether specific items have been received. We regret that we are unable to answer such inquiries except to direct you again to the Track your status feature on the online application. Given the number of applications we receive and the limited time we have available to process, authenticate, and review each of them, it is not possible for us to reply to individual inquiries asking us to verify receipt of application materials or confirm application status. If we require additional information, we will contact you as needed.

Best regards,

Harvard Law School Graduate Program Admissions Staff"

One of my recommendations was mailed, about 5 weeks ago, and there is still no status. Same for my online recommendations.

I used the LSAC and my law school transcript turned from complete to received yesterday, which is quite strange.

I guess they simply have not started to look at my application.

Some of my docs. have been processed. That's relieving.

Now I have another query...
I have sent my transcripts and my TOEFL report through LSAC.
In the "track status" system at the Harvard website, the field regarding my transcripts is marked "N/A - Used LSAC Service".
But my TOEFL Score Report is still marked "No current status. Please check back later".

Has anyone else experienced that?
What could it mean? Have they not yet reviewed my TOEFL score in the LSAC Report or has my LSAC Report been sent to Harvard without the information on my TOEFL score??

Thanks lawcocacola!

I'm considering sending them a message.
At the same time, their instruction to "please do not contact our office to inquire about your application status and whether specific items have been received" makes me reticent on this option.

Maybe I should wait a little longer. Perhaps they have only received my LSAC Report and have not yet analysed it to see my TOEFL results enclosed.

But one thing that makes me uneasy is that my LSAC Report was updated on October 26, 2009, to add the information regarding my TOEFL score. LSAC states this Report was requested by HLS on October 20, 2009 (thus, before the Report had been uptaded with my TOEFL results), but that it was reported on October 27, 2009 (one day after the update).
I keep thinking that maybe the version of the Report that HLS received was the one previous to the update, and the blank regarding their receipt of my TOEFL information, while having already received the LSAC report with my transcripts, only adds to my suspicions.

What to do, what to do?
And how to write them an e-mail, overriding their instruction NOT to contact them to ask about receipt of documents, without getting on their nerves?

Yeah... they must be working really hard to deal with all the applications.
I heard from Chicago they had a significant increase in the number of applications, comparing to last year (and I believe last year also saw an increase over the previous year).
It's probable that (as in "certainly") Harvard has also received more applications than in previous years.

My TOEFL score has also been marked "Received" during the holidays! (by the way, thanks for the help some of you gave me here: after I contacted LSAC and HLS Grad Admissions about my problem, they changed my status; it was really a mistake in their update of my status).

Now, another thing: Should the Recommendations my recommenders sent online also be marked as "Received" or is it normal that they are marked as having "No current status"? (they are only marked as "Received" in "Step 5: Recommendations", but not in the track status page)

My online recos still don't show as 'received' - though of course in the reco page - it says that the recommenders have submitted the needful.

Now that the toefl waiver is updated (though i'd rather it was a clear 'Waived' instead of an 'N/A'), i wonder if there's anything else in the status checklist that will change before the decisions are made.

@ JSD,

The "N/A" opposite TOEFL requirement on the tracker simply means you are "deemed proficient" in English and are not required to submit the scores.
You are better off therefore with a "N/A" than with consideration of waiver request. A waiver request that warrants due consideration may potentially hold up consideration of your application "on merits". (analogize the issue as a preliminary issue).

@JSD & all,

I reckon that the update on the tracker will be done with a lag and in tranches. So, even if the whole application is submitted @ the same time, the update will be in tranches; that is to say, part of the application will be shown as updated before the other part.
