Has anyone heard from GULC?

I just refused my offer of admission to the International Business and Economic Law LLM.
I´m taking my chances again.
Let´s hope it works this time around.
I wholeheartedly hope this helps someone still waiting for Georgetown admission out there!

I konw that there are a lot of people that apply to NYU and Gtown so there is a lot of overlap.
I got into both schools and have chosen to put a deposit in at Gtown. However, as a domestic student the University of Florida may end up being significantly cheaper for me. All things equal, I would choose Gtown, but it's a lot of money.

DeaconCav- Why would you ever decide to go to GULC over Florida if you can get instate tuition at UF? That seems almost like a no brainer, especially since UF is #2 in the country. Although the name Georgetown seems impressive, it really only seems like a ticket to a job in DC. I've been trying to do some research on this and from what I've found (which is basically from looking at the websites of different large and mid-size law firms throughout the country) employers in the south (mainly Nashville, Atlanta, and everyone in Florida) hire out of UF, California employers hire out of Loyola, everyone in the midwest and in Chicago hire out of Northwestern and EVERYONE hires out of NYU. I know the last part is true because I'm currently in NY and I never run across GULC Tax LLMs here. The only people that are going to hire out of GULC are DC employers...everyone else is going to NYU... If I were you, I'd go to NYU or dont waste the money and go to UF. Definitely not GULC.

My family lives 2 hours from DC. My top job locations are Charlotte, DC, ATL in that order. I've been trying to do some research as well. If I can get in-state tuition it's more than likely I'll be going to UF. If it's full-price then the other benefits of GULC would outweigh UF.

@k_jordan
Why is it that people always mention rankings?
Yes, Florida is #2 but is there much difference between #2 and #3?
Georgetown was #2 last year. This tells me that between Florida and Georgetown, in the years to come they will eventually switch places again.
The only one that remains a constant is NYU as #1.
All of the other points you raised, however, are valid.
@Deacon
If you choose Georgetown over Florida you are not crazy or strange or whatever the term may be. Your choice is personal and only you know what you want for your future and your career. Do what feels right to you and do not let others make you feel "bad" for doing so.
As you may have already guessed this forum is really based on opinion and minds change often. While it is a good source of friendly discussion and debate, that is all it is. No one can predict ones successes or failures.

It's the price difference between UF and Gtown that gets me. There is such limited objective data on career placement it's tough to know what the difference is in the two schools other than the price tag.

I agree.
I have talked to just about all of my professors and I mention the pros and cons of both and everyone says if it were them they would choose Georgetown. See how everyone has an opinion.
Then, I too, start to think about the price. It is a difficult decision but, I would like more than price to be the determining factor.
I have been accepted to both Florida and Georgetown, by the way, as well.

Yeah. NYU is definitely out at this point.
I have a professor from law school that taught at UF. I'm going to talk to him once some of my questions have been addressed. As I said, if the price tag weren't so different it's not an issue. However, I've already had one job offer rescinded due to the economy and am extremely gun shy so the price tag is a huge issue.

I completely understand.
Maybe we will end up in the same place. PM me with your choice, whenever you decide, if you do not mind.
Best of luck with your decision!

Hey guys
Have you managed to make the georgetown email work ?
I mean the NetID@georgetown.edu
I changed my password on the website today, but I can\'t login into my account (I can\'t with Google Mail, LawMail, GUMail and Hoyamail).
But the redirection to my other email works ! (Meaning when someone mail my NetID@georgetown.edu, it forwards the mail to my @yahoo)
And you guys, does it work for you ?

Hi, Actually, I asked the tech people about this and they said that the Georgetown email addresses have not been activated yet even though your NetID is eventually going to be your email address. I believe they said that emails will activated in a month.

Anyone applied in April and already received the decision?
Posted May 08, 2011 15:25
My application was complete March 23 and was admitted April 21 if this is any help. Turn around seems to be within 3 weeks to a month.
