Anyone want to express some experiences in applying to HLS?
The wait is a kill, so if someone can give advise regarding the entire process; it would be great for all 2008 applicants.
For example: waiting time, probabilities to enter, good signs, bad signs, etc.
Thanks!

I share your anxiety Counsel.
I submitted my application on November 12th and received two e-mails from Harvard; one saying they had received my application and the other acknowledging completeness (on December 18th).
We unfortunately have two more long months to wait for an answer. At least the admittance by Columbia so far serves to appease my mind.

I agree gppinhero that the Columbia admittance appeases , but, on the other side, I'm worried by CLS deadline (March 10th): what if HLS does not answers by then?

The deadline worries me as well.
There are three possible ways to handle that:
(i) Ask Harvard for an early notice in view of other iminent deadlines from other schools. Posts from last year indicate this possibility. Harvard informs the student of his admittance/rejection in advance and ask him not to go public about it until the official results are out;
(ii) Pay CLS the deposit before March 10th and then (in case of admittance in HLS) withdraw your acceptance and lose the money; or
(iii) Don't pay the deposit and pray to be accepted in HLS. In this case you will be placed in a waiting list and will only be reinstated if there is space in the class at this time (which almost certainly there will be not).
None of them is an easy choice, but you and I will have to pick one.
Cheers.

Hey, could anyone confirm me where was it indicated that the deposit for Columbia should be made before March 10th. I did not see this in my admission letter.
Posted Jan 23, 2008 23:48
D_D how can you miss it??? It is written both in the email and in the letter (last paragraph).
ggpinhero: I totally agree with you on the three scenarios, but I think that I will probably go for the second one since, besides HLS, I will also wait for Stanford to send out the admissions before making the final decision. So, in the worst case I will throw away $ 500 :-(

Hey! I just checked the e-mail again and the last two paragraphs read as follows: "As new information for the 2008-2009 program becomes available, we will post it on this Web site. We therefore encourage you to visit the site regularly so you do not miss any important updates.
A formal letter will be sent with your admission package in late December."
I'm almost certain that the letter does not indicate the deadline. But I will make sure once I get home from work.
Thanks for the info! :)

Good luck on your application

Thanks, I´ll just have to wait then.
Regarding the issue discussed in ealier posts as to whether admitted students had to reply to columbia by early march, the web page indicates:
"Admitted candidates will be required to notify us of their intention to matriculate in early March."
It´s in the Early Review section, I hope this is usefull.
