I have been admitted to Georgetown and to UVA which offers me USD 10k, for their program in business law. I think both propose good LLM, are well ranked and in two great cities - although completely different.
Since I received Georgetown's acceptance letter two months before the one of UVA, I had almost already made my choice for Georgetown when I received UVA's decision. Now I would say that the most reasonable choice seems to be UVA - particularly on the financial side (there is a difference of almost USD 20K with Georgetown foundation's program). Could you please give me your comments and comparison re their business law program, re their student life, re Charlottesville or Washington? Many thanks in advance.
Georgetown vs UVA

sorry to side track, but what do you mean when you say that you've been accepted to UVA program in business law? I was accepted to their general LLM program, and looking at the app. form again, there seems to be no option for any 'business law' program. did you sign up for something else? thanks
otherwise there are a few threads discussing the abovementioned universities, but not directly compared to each other.

I meant that I applied to programs in business law. Although Georgetown propose a LLM in International Business and Economic Law, UVA does not propose a LLM called Business law, but they have the "Virginia Law & Business Program". I applied on this basis. I don't know whether at the end it makes a real difference to have a LLM called Business Law or not, since the courses I will choose will be focused on business law anyway.

ah then it's the same then.
I don't have any first hand experience, but a friend who goes to the States regularly tells me that Charlottesville is a lovely place consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the US, though another has told me that Virginia is bloody boring. I think in terms of quality of life it's a small town / big town difference between the two

I'd go to UVA! An extra positive element for choosing UVA is that I will be there.
(just kidding, not really added value)

Thank you both for your answers.
Actually that's what Im afraid of - that Charlottesville is bloody boring! I made a European exchange program in Berlin and I love the kind of cities where there is always somethings to do...
Santa, I read in an other blog that you come from Belgium. Me too?!
Can you tell me why you choose UVA? Where you also admitted somewhere else?

Hi,
All current UVA students I talked to told me that I would never get bored in UVA because there are many recreational activities. Plus, you have a huge number of student organizations if you want to practice a sport for example, or a game.
I hope it helps...

Also admitted in Duke, LSE, UCL and King's College. Still waiting for some law schools.
Where are you from? I'm from Leuven.
