Georgetown or UCLA

I have been accepted to LLM in both Georgetown and UCLA. Which do you think is a better option? What are the future prospects in either case? - I am considering courses in international taxation together with WTO/ international trade...

I would certainly choose Georgetown. In the 2008 ranking, it is the third in International Law (together with Harvard) and the third in taxation. What is more, DC is a better place to look for a job in your fields. You'll have opportunities in Washington and be closer to NYC.

There's a pretty simple solution to your question, and quite frankly it's hard to understand how you don't see that.

The Final 4 is this weekend. Simply base your choice on who goes farther. Georgetown plays Ohio State, and UCLA plays Florida, both today. Tomorrow is the National Championship game. That's what I'm doing. While waiting on NYU (I'm a domestic Tax LL.M. applicant), I'm basing my choice between Georgetown and Florida based on which team does better this weekend. After that, I'll have it narrowed down, and only NYU would trump the winner.

Good luck.

apart from the jokes contact the career office of each school.
check the perspectives from each school and I do not share the argument that the georgetown is better because of DC (a counter argument is that LA has a very strong market). In addition take into consideration your nationality. If your are from Asia pick LA. If you are European, the east coast has more opportunities, however, take into consideration that there is a great competition and the offer from the market is not that great.
Finally take into consideration that only two Schools organize an LL.M. job Fair; NYU and UCLA.
