Georgetown LLM starting Fall 2020

DRM1215

Hi I am about to apply to Georgetown too. Just wondering whether you guys have also applied to other law schools. Someone suggested me to go to somewhere else because of the high crime rate in D.C., but I think the campus is generally fine and the reputation of the school is also important. I am also looking at Cornell, USC and UCLA.

I think it depends on what program you are interested in. I'm going for a tax LLM. I have applied to Florida and received admission. I have also applied to Northwestern (still awaiting a decision). Obviously still awaiting a decision from GULC as well.

I have friends (both females) who attend or have attended GULC for the tax LLM program and none have mentioned any issues with crime.

When did you apply to UF, how long did you wait for the decision?

I applied September 26th and received a decision of admission on September 27th. Not sure why it was so quick but I'm not complaining.

I am interested in business law. I was accepted into Northwestern last year, but I didn't attend and they didn't allow me to defer my admission. I know that Northwestern and Georgetown (and Florida) are famous for tax law program.

When considering the ranking, should I refer to the ranking for JD, or is there one specifically for LLM? I'm considering apply to all the T6 schools plus UCLA (15th).

I'm really only familiar with the rankings of tax LLM programs. Not sure what to suggest for business law. As far as tax LLM, rankings for the LLM program and not the JD program is what's important.

Not yet...according to last year posts, once the status changes to "under review", the decision will be notified within hours.

I applied on Nov 8 for early and have not heard back yet.

I am anxious because some of the applicants received acceptance notice within 10 days or so in the past.

I think that they might stick to the official early action deadline:
''Applications completed by this deadline will receive a decision by Monday, December 16, 2019.''

I haven't heard of anyone who has heard that quickly this year though. I agree with FelipeVQ--I think they're sticking to their regular action deadline this year.

I still haven't heard anything. Kind of surprised they've waited so long to release any decisions.

I haven't heard from Georgetown either.

While I hope to receive decision soon, I think it may be after thanksgiving because my application status is still "Application Completed" (instead of "Under Review"), which implies they have not even started to review my application.
