Georgetown Blues

masterofla...

Dear All;

Georgetown's Early Action application requires you to apply by a certain date in Nov. (20th if my recollection of the info. put up on their web-site is correct) and then you would be given a decision on Dec. 12. As a matter of strategy do you think it is wise to go in for Early Action (tho admittedly it might increase the chances of getting admitted) when you are counting on other places as well? Does anyone know how long Georgetown gives you to take a decision on an Early Action acceptance. If fortune smiles down on you & you hear from them in the second week of Dec, would the time allowed to you to make a decision on their decision (phew... this is getting confusing!) be so small as to effectively make it a Hobson's Choice scenario for you, when it comes to your other pending apps?

Would be grateful if those admitted at Georgetown & others in the know could help us out here.

Cheers!

the first deposit of 250 $ is due on April 3rd...so you have more than enougn time to wait for the results of other schools....so just go for it...securing GULC in the mdiddle of December will not only give you kinda comfort for as long as 5 months to come but enable you to save your time and effort in applying to other schools because you need not apply for schools you do not prefer to GULC...

Hi, I applied Early Action this year and I it went just perfect: first of all, I had an acceptance letter on December 1st, which made me save a lot of money in respect of application fees (it was pointless to send applications to universities I wouldn´t prefer in comparison with GU). And I completely agree with Gevurah: counting on GU´s admission reduces a lot the anxiety everybody suffers on March (right now, we´re all waiting for answers from Harvard, Columbia, NYU,...).

I completely agree with Ivan. To be accepted by GULC in december reduced a lot my anxiety. Besides, they give you a long deadline to answer (aPRIL 3). Actually, more time than the other university where I was accepted (Duke).

Same applies to me: for the time being, I was accepted at UMich (received the acceptance letter 2 weeks ago, more or less), and UMich´s deadline ends before GU´s (March, 31st).

"To be accepted by GULC in december reduced a lot my anxiety. Besides, they give you a long deadline to answer (aPRIL 3)."

This leads to three big questions:

Have you all guys answer GULC whether or not you are going there?

How about people who has been admitted through the regular admission(is there any?),
when is the deadline to answer?

Does your answer affect their decision to the rest of us who just applied but haven't got a decision?

Thank you

1 - No.
2 - I haven´t seen anyone admitted through the regular admission process so far, although I´ve read a post of someone saying that he was about to receive his decision.
3 - I guess so.

Well, Ivan2006, that being considered...

...good luck with all your other applications!!

Joking :-)

More seriously, do you have any idea about how the waiting list system will work?
