I have been waitlisted in Duke and UCLA.
Could anyone inform me of the possibility/probability of attaining admission if someone has been waitlisted.
Would be grateful for some advise/information in this regard.

I applied to UCLA but got nearly immediatly rejected , barely a couple of weeks after my application went through to the committee. As for duke, I got waitlisted around the 16th of febuary and after a couple of months of silence, got accepted(beginning of april). I mailed duke a couple of times saying that I had been accepted elsewhere and that I needed an answer within a month . Got no reply until the OK.
I tried this technique within UPENN but I backfired almost immediatly (got rejected 3 days later)....maybe try a mail (polite an subdued), but I don't know...

I got an acceptance from university just now after two and a half months of silence . keep your hopes up!

Just sent negative answers to Cornell and UCLA so you still have a chance. I still haven't replied to UPENN. I did not receive any scholarship from UPENN like the others (Cornell and UCLA) have offered me. I don't know what to do, whether to accept Penn's offer (without a scholarship) or wait until next year and to apply to NYU, CLS etc. What do you think?

seems to me like an admission but for aug 2008 instead of this year! either way, it's an admission all right! i mean all these talks about financial aid. they never tell that to rejects!

Actually by "next" I think he means this coming August. Americans use next in that way. It would be odd to offer admission now for fall 08 unless the applicant asked for deferral.

I deleted the email. I did call up and find out from Duke and they told me that I was still on the waitlist and that I would be informed of the decision in a few weeks...now I am just waiting and hoping for a positive reponse....how about you? where are u going this fall?

Its late at night here in UT, USA. I can't sleep so I have found my way here. I've been waitlisted at Duke, Cornell, and Georgetown. The tension is killing me :). Has anyone heard anything about the sizes of these waitlists, the probability of getting in, or the best methods of following up with admissions when you are on the waitlist?
