Unfortunately, I still have not heard from NYU as well. But as far as I can see from the letters on the discussion board â nobody has. I also think that the session that you have been invited to is not an interview. But maybe this invitation means that all will be great for you. Hope for the best.

I got an email stating that I would hear from the admissions department on the 1st of April..which is also April fools day..sounds fishy..no?
Posted Mar 09, 2005 22:44
I have request an expediate decission of my application to NYU since certain others more prestigious law schools will admit me and require monetary commitments within days. But even in this convenient circumstance, they won't give me an immediate answer to my status. Their solid date is April 1st, no chance eariler than that day to get even dinged.

every professor told me wait for a few weeks
Posted Mar 10, 2005 04:20
I never talked to them on the phone, but they promptly replied most of my inquiries in email. Which course track did you choose? For me it's tax.

I also received an e-mail with an invitation to a conference of a NYU professor (to be held in Argentina). I believe I won't be able to assist. Do you think this might affect my admission?
Posted Mar 14, 2005 18:13
Marcia, I don't think that if you don't go it will affect your chances of admission. Anyway, just to be safe, I would reply to the e-mail explaining the circumnstances why you will not be able to assist. Good luck!

I also received an e-mail with an invitation to a conference of a NYU professor (to be held in Tokyo on March 29). I think almost all NYU applicants living in Japan received the same inviatation. I don't think NYU will make decisions about Japanese applicants until that day. But I will not be able to wait another two or three weeks!

I guess that I am pretty unlucky living in Moscow than. NYU does not hold any events here. Hope that it will not negatively influence their decisions on the Russian applicants.

Thank you Sonya for your reply!

By the way, does anybody receive the admittion from NYU?
Last year, my friend received it by regular mail dated March 15.
I am looking forward to it so long time.

Hi, I just got the letter of acceptance from NYU last week after i sent my application last month. I was told that NYU only sends out letters of admission via mail. They only e-mail to let you know that they receive your application and whether your application is complete. They do not inform applicants about their decisions by e-mail. A letter of admission from NYU should come in a big (8 x 12) brown envelop and the letter begins with "I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the New York University School of Law, Graduate Division, . . . ." I wish you best of luck on your application.

Thank you. I am originally from Thailand. I am currently going to Michigan State University - College of Law in the U.S., and am expecting to receive my J.D. this May.

Thank you saovabha for your reply!!
I've not heard from NYU except an invitation to reception and session.

Congratulations Saovabha!
Comment: However, I donât think that anyone should start worrying about the offer of admission to NYU just because Saovabha received their decision already. As far as I understand, LL.M. in taxation is a slightly different program designed for students who hold a J.D. degree from an American university. The program even has different application deadlines. Therefore, I am sure that NYU decisions on other LL.M. concentrations will not be made before the 1st of April just as the university staff informed everybody during the phone conversations.
Also, for me it is pretty strange that NYU does not send the admission information via e-mail. Their LL.M. program consists of about 400 students. I think that in this situation NYU must be too confident with work of the mailing system. I donât know about other countries, but in Russia the mailing system is terrible and I get pretty nervous each time when I expect to get anything by normal mail. I just have to hope that this time the mailing system will work fine.

Chris, I am Poom. I am the only Thai enrolled at MSU - College of law. I went back and worked at W&C in Thailand 2 summers ago as a summer associate. I shared the office with P'Au Sukanij and met so many new friends at W&C - Bangkok. I am pretty sure that we've met, but i can't really identify who you are from your name since there are many Cornell LLM alumni at W&C office. Since i prefer not to reveal my e-mail address on this webboard here, you could ask my e-mail address from P'Jeab Areeya at W&C for my e-mail. She knows me very well because she is my good friend from Wisconsin. I will commence my LLM in Taxation at NYU this Fall, and i am really looking forward to it.
