Hi everyone! I know this is a discussion board regarding the different LLM programs and mostly with people who has already applied, which I didnt, but I was wondering if you could help me to decide whether to take a LLM or another Master degree, say, in International Public Affairs, Intl Relations, Politics, Development, etc.
After three years practicing law, I am thinking about working for a while in the field of international public policy. And I am really interested in some Masters programs I have seen on the abovementioned areas, to which I would apply next year.
However, I have been also wondering how serious not taking an LLM would damage my law career, which of course I dont want to abandon. Do I really have to take an LLM to have a successful law career? Can I take a master in some law-related area and still be able to go back to law practice afterwards?
Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Hi Amala,
Im sure these masters programs will help you to build a career in the field of international public policy. So will an LLM in international public law. As to your question, in my opinion you dont HAVE to take an LLM program to succeed in the legal field. An absence of LLM in your resume will not jeopardize your legal career at all. It would certainly enhance your legal knowledge though. Dont you worry about taking an LLM only because you wont be successful without it. Thats just my thougth.
Regards.
