Cornell or Virginia ?

Michaeeel

Hi guys,

I've been admitted to both and I have to make a choice. Some info about me :
- specialized in Corporate Law
- French (stronger Cornell alumni network here but I don't know if I'll come back to France right after my LLM)

What do you think ?
Thanks !

For now I have : Georgetown, Duke, Northwestern (LLM/Kellogg : but there is an issue with the beginning/ending dates for me), Cornell, UCLA, Virginia. I haven't been accepted to Penn and Chicago.

I would go to Cornell. Don´t put so much weight on the US. news ranking. Cornell will be always an Ivy League.

Cornell has lost its most important professor in corporate law (Macey, now Yale). From what I saw during my research on several websites, they are not that strong in this area (many assistants). Virginia is regarded as quite strong in business matters and quite famous in the US. Therefore, if you want to choose after "content", in my opinion you should go for Virginia. If the name has a priority, go for Cornell.

Hi all,
Based on my understanding to Virginia, Virginia has a very strong student body and it does have a very very good reputation in U.S.A...and beautiful campus...

I have just sent a letter of rejection to U of Penn. Another slot will now be open.
I will be going to U of Virginia unless CLS decides to send me an invitation. They have often been as late as May so I don't want to count on them. :))
U of Virginia is a very strong school in Business Law and offers their LLM students the support of one of the best career planning and recruitment offices of all the schools.
Good Luck in your plans and decisions:)))

I'm from Moscow Russia. Where are you from? Great to hear that you are going to UVA too.
I've applied for the "Range" which is part of the original Jeffersonian plan for the University.
Check it out on the web. www.virginia.edu/residencelife/range/
Hope to see you there.
