Columbia LL.M. Applicants 2022-2023

Van 2022

According to the website results are released from mid January...still disappointed to be placed on reserve group. Any idea what this actually means?

According to the CLS website, the result of LLM will be released in mid March. Perhaps the result of ELLM would be released earlier than the traditional one. However, I still wonder why they release the reserved group of traditional llm at this moment.

I am still worried about that too. Any chance is a pressure tool to accept the ELLM?

There might be a misunderstanding where with "reserve group" they just mean that you will be assessed together with the other regular LLM applicants. I have not heard of anyone being offered admission to the regular LLM group before March.

Thanks! I already declined the offer to the ELLM. Being placed in the Reserve Group for the traditional LLM at this early stage..is a good thing or a bad one? I guess a bad one (they asked me to confirm that I want to still be considered for the Traditional LLM) but still... little strange how they offset the acceptance for the Traditional / ELLM.

I am more inclined to agree with the above - that you will be placed in the regular LLM group to be assessed together instead of just being placed in the "WL" group. But i think you could just ask the AO to clarify, as in whether you stand in the equal footing with the rest of us.

yes. Thank you for your email. Due to the high volume of applications, it will take a few weeks for members of our team to individually process each application. We do not have an application status checker. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been processed, and decisions will be made in mid-March.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Laayer! I received an email in early January stating that they received my application but not my LSAC report. LSAC finalized my report and sent it to the LS I applied to 2 days after that email, but I haven't received any communication from Columbia ever since.

I assume they must have received my CAS report and have still not processed my application 1f643

What does waitlisted actually means? I guess that If you refuse the admission for the ELLM you will not be consider for the General LLM unless other people accepted refuse their acceptance letter...not sure!

I interpret it like that too but I'm very surprised by this approach because the website says on dual applications (Executive LL.M. and LL.M.) "[D]ecisions are made independently by separate offices."

Has anyone who has been waitlisted for the LL.M. already asked Columbia what it implies?

I got mine last night after I wrote here! So i guess everyone elses should be on their way as well. I applied on the deadline.

Is there anyone here who has still not received an email that their application is complete?

I'm like you because I received the same email but I didn't receive the confirmation email. I guess that we should wait until next week.

Hi, all! Can anybody tell me what the completion email looks like? :)

I received an e-mail a while back telling me that I need to officially apply for a TOEFL waiver, as that is the only missing requirement. I did right away and was granted within a day. The TOEFL e-mail waiver says they will attach the waiver automatically, and there is nothing else that I need to do. However, I am not sure if that means my application is complete.

TIA!

As your application to Columbia Law School’s LL.M. program is complete and has been sent to the Admissions Committee for review, I write with a timeline of next steps so you can anticipate when you will next hear from us:
Admission decisions will be sent simultaneously in mid-March, followed by financial aid decisions shortly thereafter. Admitted students will be given a deadline to accept our offer (no sooner than April 1). A small percentage of applicants will be placed in Reserve status in mid-March (our version of a wait list). Those candidates will receive decisions on a rolling basis into May.
Please be sure to add our email address (gradprograms@law.columbia.edu) to your contact list so that you do not miss any of our messages. We are excited to learn more about you through your application!

Hey
I applied without a sufficient TOEFL score and I wonder if they interview candidates like me.

did you apply with a sufficient TOEFL score?
I think they require 105
