Columbia

Quick question - when does Columbia usually send out its admission letters? NYU site says that they do it around March 15, but Columbia's doesn't say anything...

And another one - is Columbia good about giving out scholarships (at least tuition waivers?). I know a lot of people who got a scholarship from NYU, haven't heard of anyone who got a scholarship from Columbia...

There is no rule about when Columbia sends out its admission offers. Some people received it very early, others a lot later.

If you receive an offer from another University and need to know from Columbia because of a deadline, then call them up and tell them that you need to know. This usually speeds up the process. Back up your phone call with an email.

I cannot help you with the scholarship issue, but I suspect that Columbia does not give quite as many scholarships as NYU, since NYU has more than twice the number of LLM students ;-)

Hope this helps,

Doc J

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine who applied for the Fall term received his admission letter on mid-December. However, other friend of mine who is currently pursuing an LLM at Columbia received it in the end of January.

Hello,

At least when decisions came out for the 2005 program, Chicago was the first one to send their decisions (mid-February), followed by Yale, Stanford, Harvard (all around mid-March) Columbia (pretty late around end of march) and I still hadn't received any news from Berkely in mid-April.

However, some Law schools such as Yale, Stanford and Harvard seem to send all their decisions in the same time. Others such as Chicago or Columbia seem to do it in several rolls.

Good luck to all of you, it's a stressing but thrilling time as well :). In any case, all these law schools are great and, frankly, you won't notice any differences among them but for the size of the classes maybe and the environment which also matters (you'll stay there for one year after all, and it's an experience you'll only have once in your life, so think of all aspects, not only the ranking of a - disputed - website...)
