I am a law student from India in my fourth year in a five year program, and I was wondering what my chances are for LLM at NYU, Columbia or Cornell. My average grade point is 4.7 on 7, I have participated in the Manfred Lachs Moot at Sydney, the Vis moot at Vienna and the Vis (East) at Hong Kong, and I was a part of the winning team of the National Arbitration Moot here in India, I have a couple of paper presentations and a single publication.I am a member of the editorial board of my University's Arbitration law review (though its still in its nascent stage, we are due to come out with our first issue this year). I apologize if it appears as though I'm blowing my own trumpet, but I'm only seeking an informal but honest appraisal.
Chances of Admission

Hi !
Have you applied for 2011-2012, or are you planning for 2012-2013 ? Because it may be too late for those universities for 2011-2012 if you haven't applied yet.
Well, there are many threads like this one, and this shows only one thing : we can never know for sure if someone will get admission or not.
Sometimes, someone with exceptionnal grades will be refused in an University, when someone with average grades will be admitted.
It's not a matter only of what you have done or what you do, but it's more a matter of who you are : they are interested in some profiles.
But don't worry, I personally (but I'm just another candidate...) think you have good chances of admission.
But there is only one thing that everyone knows for sure : 100% of students admitted have applied ! ;)
So, don't stress, apply and you'll know for sure ! Try not to keep in mind "Will I be accepted ?", just apply, go one with your life, forget it until you receive (I hope) an offer of admission ! ;)
So, good luck !
