Hi everybody,
As you all can see, I am new to this board. I have been following for more than 2 years now and finally decided to register.
I am sorry in advance, I know these "chances" posts are annoying, but I truly have no idea of what I am getting into and would like to know if it is even worth trying to apply to these schools - being NYU, Columbia and LSE.
I am from Canada. I am 22. I graduated last year with a 3,6/4,3 GPA from the University of Montreal (classes are curved - between 2,3 and 2,7 - so a 3,6 places me in the top 10%) - and had 4 "honors" semesters. I am currently doing bar school (which is either one or two semesters in Quebec) and will be writing in december.
I have been working/was hired in a national law firm for a year now as a student in securities and M&A and have previously worked two years in commercial litigation in a private boutique law firm. I won several prizes for academic excellence/leadership/community involvment as well as national moot prizes (both team and individual prizes, best team, best factum etc), have been heavily involved both in school and outside school (mentoring services, sitting , etc) and published a bit. I played hockey at a top level and won several championships (although I am not sure that is worth anything),traveled 4 continents and have worked 25 + hrs a week during my degree.
That is about all. I wanted to know if I had any chance at the aforementioned schools. I am strongly interested in corporate finance and general corporate law so I would do the LL. M. in business law. At the same time, if you have any tips about admission/submitting candidacy, PLEASE do not hesitate to share!!
To all of you who took the time to read this, thanks a lot and have a good weekend!!

Hi! Based on your credentials I would say you have a really good shot for the universities you mentioned ! And my honest opinion is that you should try applying to couple of the top unis as well, eg Harvard!

Thanks for your answer Law01! I don't think I can compete with people in Harvard, though...
Anyone else who has an opinion about this?
Thanks!!

Who knows really if your profile is strong enough for those schools safe for those working in the admissions offices? Most law schools look for a good combination of grades, work experience (if applicable), LoR's, language proficiency and a strong personal statement. They also try to get a diverse class profile so that can influence who gets accepted and who doesn't as well. All I can say is focus on the PS and who you ask for LoR's as that's about the only thing you can influence at this point. I would also advice to select schools because they offer a program you're interested in and not just because of their ranking.

Hi. I'm from Pakistan. My law gpa is around 3.5/4.0 and my cumulative gpa is 3.1/4.0. Do i have a shot in any of these universities?
