Hi
I am admitted in BU Banking and Financial Law, also the university gave me a scholar for the half of my tuistion fee. My problem is that I am a foreigner and I don't know what is the reputation of the program, what the employers think about it, what are my chances to find a good job after my graduation?
On the other hand I am admitted in Georgetown, I paid my first deposit but they don't offer me any help to find a bank loan. I like Georgetown , its ranking is better but BU will be not so expensive to me.
I will take a big bank loan so I want to know what my chances are to find a good job after my graduation in BU.
BU Banking and Financial Law - ranking?

Hi Mariya
I am in the same boat as you are. What makes things difficult is the fact that there are no rankings and the students who are admitted are generally those who have been working and go back to their employers after the LLM. This leaves people with no work experience in a quandry about the employabilty quotient of the LLM.
One more query- at what stage of th admission process did you get your scholarship.
cheers

Hi to both of you -
I don't know how much I can help - but I will try.
I was also admitted to BU (Taxation) I will not go as I will go to NYU but I must share my thoughts of BU with you.
I think it is a very good school. It is ranked as a very good university in the US. far more superb than many others in many fields. In law it is ranked 20 but I think that the banking is well known. They are very personal in their attitude. They were really nice to me the time and I really turned them down with a "heavy heart".
Chances of finding work for foreigners are not the best no matter where you graduate from. BU will do anything in their power to help but allot is up to you and the grades you will have and the connections you have from your home country (i.e. maybe your boss can help you find a job).
Me - I decided to go to NYU as it is ranked first in Taxation as first is a bigger difference between any other ranking. Between 3 / 4 / 6 I don't think it matters much but 3 / 4 / 6 compered to 1st is a difference in my opinion. Also, as a foreign trained lawyer I can not sit for the bar in MA but I can in NY so I thought it might be better to study there if anyway after I graduate I will try to look for a job there - you know - maybe I will be able to work on connections with law firms during school. But if you study in Georgetown or BU and plan to work in NY then what is the difference - both are "not a NY school" so at least in my opinion - go to where you will have less financial burden + you will have more fun - Boston is Great!!! and the BU staff are so so so so nice!!! Believe me I still fill bad about not going there...
That is it - Good luck with choosing!!!.. :-)
