I agree that impersonating a real person is concerning. I am just not sure that this person was readily identifiable based on the scarce details Kay used (we could apply the defamation test here surely?).
Anyway, I really hope a person whose real name is "flygirl" and who went to CLS doesn't hunt me down... : )

Beware of frauds ("Kay" is not an HLS student)

For a while I thought it was all an April Fool's joke
I thought the same thing, which is why I took out my original comments.
For the record, If anyone at Harvard actually gave out a student's personal information to Jose Pidal (whose name in and of itself I'm guessing is a scam on the huge money laundering scandal in the Phillipines a couple years back) they could be violating FERPA ("Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.") Admissions offices are not allowed to just give out your personal information like that in the U.S. If someone at Harvard did indeed indulge Jose in his sad little battle to be right on the internet, then I have to wonder if they couldn't have been doing something more productive. And that's not even getting into basic tort law right to privacy issues and claims.
Its pretty ugly to take things to that level of extreme just to prove you are right on the internet. I do not welcome such actions into the legal profession and doubt any of my colleagues would. (And be aware there is a character and fitness component of being admitted to the bar and these kinds of things can come back to hurt you down the line)
And please don't stalk me and track me down now just because I disagree with you. My advice would be to spend more time actually getting a job, instead of fighting with people all the time about how great you and your job prospects are.

Very well said. They don't seem to study that much at HLS...

As stated above, everyone can indulge in their Internet fantasies, but do leave my classmates, my school, and future HLS applicants out of the bitter frustrations with life.- End of Jose Quote
Come on Jose, Im sure you, your classmates and even HLS will survive from that !
Plus, I totally agree with Flygirl...

In the midst of asking people to move on, you take a swipe to try to discredit and/or attack me. I assume you are somewhat intelligent enough to know that there is a rather large difference between the two things you are trying to tie together and are just trying to protect your friend. So I'll give you a mulligan and move on...

So we know that he might be Filipino, has taken the NJ and PA bars, happens to have a girlfriend whose life he thinks is being destroyed by biglaw, is touchy about law school JD rankings, and has this sudden urge to offer advice to LLM applicants even though he also claims he doesn't know anything about LLMs.
I'm sure Ivan can figure out whose second account this is, with a little more effort. Tax LLM applicants beware!

Heh, I thought it weird too. And why so quick to criticize jamesdeanmartin when that person has only made two other posts. It seems odd to choose one of only posts to be a fight with jamesdean.
I apologize though - this is becoming like the Spanish Inquisition - now we are all accusing each other...

Let's focus on the goal of this forum: sharing information about LL.M programs.

Flygirl et al,
Reread the above sentence. I was poking fun at Ivan more than anyone else.
This thread has obviously served its purpose, so I'd rather see it degenerate gracefully into silliness.

That's precisely it. Just a couple of posts and a very odd background for an alleged LLM applicant.

Troll x troll... It would be funny, if the persons behind these posts weren´t the same... Right now, in other thread (the "LLM in NY") other guy did the same thing as users like marryme or jamesdeanmartin or this new troll pecuchet: kicked in the discussion desperately trying to initiate an argument... Same old pattern...
This is my last post in this thread.

Well I suppose it was my turn to get attacked now because I stood up to Jose and called him out on his lie.
I mean he is left with a Hobson's choice of either (1) admitting he lied or (2) implicating Harvard in a violation of federal law. Yes, but somehow this is turning into some strange excursion into my own personal life and the intracies of my own legal experiences. I do find it troubling that even after deleting my posts days ago, Jose stil can recall numerous bits of personal information about me from those posts. To be honest, I'm sorry I ever found this place - some of you have found a level of creepiness and obsession that I am completely uncomfortable with.
I've lurked around this site for months as I considered an LLM and only signed up to share a negative experience I had with UCLA that I thought other students should know about. The identity theft issue and how law students information was stolen is well covered at the website http://www.identityalert.ucla.edu/. As someone who has done extensive research in the area and wrote my thesis on privacy rights on the internet I take an interest in situations where individual's privacy rights are violated. Which is how I found this thread.
I wonder how Harvard feels about this "publicity" of sorts in light of the recent XOXOHTH problems. I'm sure they are already aware of this thread or will be made aware of it shortly. I wonder if this thread pops up when someone searchs for Harvard's LLM. I'm starting to think that no one ever studies at Harvard and sits on the internet so maybe its time to take the wireless internet out of the classrooms there.
In general, I was just offering some advice to future LLMs about law school because I know the transition is hard and many LLMs are isolated, struggle in the classroom and are not really incorporated into the JD program/the JD social circles. To be honest, all of this here is likely an extension of the lack of acceptance into the jd social circle. Nevertheless, I figured some somewhat frank talk from someone who went to and succeeded in law school would be helpful.
However what i've found is the same sort of insipid internet drama that is little more mature than AOL messageboard flame wars in 1998. Its XOXOHTH with an accent.
I think we all should expect more. I'm sure many people who posted in this thread or are reading this right now agree with me.
If any of you want to actually get into the legal profession here in the U.S., you will find that such behavior is not acceptable. And keep in mind, many of the people you are attacking here may be sitting on the other end of that desk interviewing you down the line. Is this the kind of impression you want to make? I would ask yourself that before you continue to act in such a manner.
