Hi,
I have seven years of experience working as an attorney in India. Two years back I shifted to USA. Now, I intend to persue LLM. Can anyone please advise which is the best way to apply for the admission to LL.M. Program.
1. would like to know how good it is to apply through LSAT (Law School Admission Test).
2. I will have to ask my college in India, for the Original transcripts.
3. I will have to ask for academic recommendation from my professors, though I have the professional recommendations with me.
Thanks and regards.

It would be best for you to do some research into requirements for LLM applications first.
The LSAT is not required for the LLM applications, but you will indeed need some recommendation letters and transcripts. Preferably you'll use LSAC for the transcript authentification.
Good luck.

Thanks Santa!!
I just want to know how good and convenient it is to use LSAC services. Or shall I prefer submiting my entire application with recommendation letters and transcripts directly to various colleges wherever I intend to apply.
Thanks.

It is seriously preferred to use LSAC, as you will only need one set of transcripts that they authentify for you and put into correspondence with US grades. Afterwards they send it to the schools you want.
Otherwise the schools have to try to make the comparison with US grades afterwards, and they don't like that.
Only send it directly if you want to apply to only one school. LSAC gives 5 free mailings to schools of the transcripts afterwards in the $185.
But even then, I'd do it through LSAC.
It's a hassle and you'll have to start a little sooner maybe, but it's worth it as schools will like your application more.
Thanks Santa!!

Thanks again Santa, I was waiting for this response.
One more clarification, shall I immediately apply through LSAC and request my collage in India to send the transcripts to LSAC or shall I wait till October, when Law Schools here in USA will open their new application process for next academic year.
Thanks :-))

I wouldn't wait too long to start the LSAC procedure, as it takes a while for them to receive the transcripts, verify and coordinate them and send the documents over to the universities of your liking.
There is no need to start the procedure immediately, but I would definitely start in September, October at the latest.

Hi there!
I was going thru this post. I just wanted to know have you started the process through LSAC? I am also thinking of pursuing LLM from US and I am here in US.
I wanted to know how did you apply for transcripts in INDIA from US? Like simply calling the university ?
Any information on the procedure to start with LSAC for credential services will be helpful!
Thanks in Advance!

Hey Sonal, Yeah, I have registered my self with LSAC. As far as transcripts are concerned, one of my friend is following up with my law school, n she ll assist my college to send transcrips to LSAC. I think as we r in USA, it would be helpful, because Law school has to send only one transcript addressed to LSAC, instead of five to seven in your address. So I feel its convenient for college as well as for us. TC.
