Anyone have any idea what the chance of actually getting into Berkeley is from the wait list?

I think there is a list of almost 50 or 60 places , out of 800 applications they received this year, according to the email. If there are 100 seats for the LLM, I think is a fair thinking maybe the'll put out a waitling list of 50 or 60 minimum and 100 maximum and, if you or me, are between the 10th and 20th place in the waitling list, chances are regular. Beneath the 10th, the chances are high but over the 20th, chances are very low.
Lets keep our hope and fingers crossed!!

i agree with alejandro, it's not being on the waitlist that matters, but WHERE on the waitlist, anybody over 20th, "no good", i guess we will have to wait post May 1st, to see. I did read on another post that more people applied this year to graduate programs in general but are not necessarily acting upon admission offers given that lack of financing prospects. On the other hand, those waitlisted have little or no prospect of receiving tuition waivers or other financial aid; such usually are distributed amongst the firs wave of admitted applicants. Hence, even the waitlist will be slaughtered by the reality of securing finance in these market conditions. On the other hand, the dollar is also stronger than it was last year, so that may also impact the financial condition of certain overseas candidates (whether admitted or waitlisted).

No, i don't know anything other than that it seems that there are more people on this forum who are on "waitlist" status rather than "admitted" at Boalt.

The reason i ask was becuase your email stated that you had "just received a spot on the waiting list as well", the connotation being that i had "just" happened. I guess you received your waitlist email one day after most of us did (on 03/16). In any case, everybody i have spoken to and called Berkeley with respect to this issue has a different thing to say. I guess each one gets a response depending on their file.

I am too confused about there process, although i have given-up hope to making it to admission status given that there are tons of us on that same list and since i would need financial aid to assist and it seems also that Berkeley is not giving any financial aid. Good Luck!

Does anyone know if Berkeley started to accept people from the waitlist?

R10,
I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Part of the admitted students have been given time to answer to the offer until March 27th, and I guess it is reasonable to expect they will wait for this deadline to start processing the waitlist.
Cheers!

I saw a posting that Berkeley had given an extension to admitted students until April 3 to respond, which means more waiting for us!
