It is all really strange. I have received a letter from Berkeley 2-3 weeks ago stating that I have been placed on the waiting list. After that I have immediately replied via e-mail that I would like to withdraw my application from further review due to my decision to attend another law school. However, today, for some reason, I have received a letter of admission to Berkeley. It is either they didnt get my e-mail 3 weeks ago on the withdrawal of my application or they want to give it another shot. Anyway it is a pretty pleasant surprise.
Conclusion: I think that Berkeley has started making decisions on the waiting list applicants. Therefore, I think that all of the people on the waiting list who are still waiting for a reply from Berkeley have a good chance to be admitted. I plan to refuse my offer shortly, meaning that it will pass to another person from the waiting list. Good luck to you all.

I decided to go to Harvard. Although, I am sure that I will be missing wonderful weather and great community at Boalt Hall.

Hi, so how can u conclude that Boalt Hall is a nice community? You know, now I am eager to know everything about Boalt Hall ...

Dear Annekoo,
I guess that I will not be able to give you many details. My conclusions were based only on the stories of my American friends who received their J.D. there and my trip to Berkeley a couple of years ago. First of all, both of my friends are extremely wonderful people with an exceptional sense of humor. Therefore, if they are always screaming out how much they loved it in Berkeley I can 100 per cent trust them. Secondly, I have never seen such a wonderful town in my life. Young beautiful people all around, all completely different, fun, loud and free. All of this is also emphasized by sunny weather. You know that feeling when you come to a place and want to stay there much longer. That was the way I felt in Berkeley. I have been to other student towns before but I have to admit that Berkeley has its own fascinating atmosphere. You see that my opinion is more emotional than reasonable. Therefore, I advise you to ask people who plan to go there and who have probably already found out everything about it.

I spoke to the admissions office and got the following information for the thesis track at Berkeley. Each student interviews three or four faculty members when he/she arrives and picks the most suited for an 8 credit writing supervisor. This supervisor works with the student throughout the year to help him/her produce publishable scholarship. The other 13 credits are made up of classes; however, the student can take at least one of the classes from another school within Berkeley (with permission from the class Professor of course). On Berkeley's website it says there are about 30 LLMs, but I was told by someone on this Board that they expect about 50 this year. As for the town of Berkeley, I only applied to Harvard, Yale, and Berkeley, because I did not want to live in any of the other american cities. I have heard nothing but good things about the Bay area. I hope this helps.
