Congratulations to all!
I am still waiting for any decision.
May I ask...any indications regarding financial aid?

I am also in!! Good luck to everyone!

Did you get any scholarship with the admission?
Posted Mar 10, 2011 16:03
I am in Berkeley as well but waitlisting from Penn and rejected from Duke

Congrats to all admited! It appears that Berkeley sends out decisions per lot of applications the committee finishes examining (as suggested in last year's thread by some of last year's LLM students). Let's hope they finish off the rest shortly as well and get to financial aid decisions - if any.
California has been having a lot of fund cuts so I'm personally not very optimistic about the amounts Berkeley will be willing to distribute on LLM fin aid but fingers crossed everyone and good luck to all still waiting!

Just got in!

As a number of people have sent me PMs about Berkeley (and other universities) may I please add that I cannot respond to PMs for some reason. But if you send me your email address I promise to write to you. I'm travelling at the moment so I may not be able to respond straight away though.

Waitlisted.
Not thrilled, but now even more anxiously waiting NYU.

Just got notice less than 1 hr ago--denied.
Feel so frustrated...cause it's my very first choice....
anyway, congratulate to those already approved...

Waitlisted as well, but I don't really mind. I'll probably withdraw my application as I would choose Penn over Berkeley in all events (unless of course Berkeley gave me a full ride which has no chance of happening)

Same here, probably. It all falls down on NYU now.
This is a good point...are we the waitlisted 'eligible' for fin aid?

I would actually probably choose Penn over NYU as well, personally because I value the status of Ivy League networking in the US and I have seen how the Penn Law networking works in practice. But of course it is a close call between the two certainly!
My logical assumption is that candidates who were waitlisted are clearly not the strongest under Berkeley's criteria and opinion. Therefore, if it offers merit based financial aid I would find id highly unlikely that it is offered to these candidates. If however, the fin aid is need based that is an entirely different story.

I agree with you. I have also seen some of the Penn networking magic in action and it was borderline spooky (although it was Wharton, not the Law). Where it all falls down is: whether I get in (NYU) and then which school would love me enough to help me out financially.
I am also thinking that even if we eventually get in Berkeley it is really unlikely to get merit fin aid. I have also heard somewhere that UC schools can only give partial waivers...

Was part of the waitlisted wave as well. I think I'm pretty much done with Berkeley anyway as I will rather go to U of Chicago.
Good luck!

Did anyone hear from Berkeley today?
Is no news at this point bad news or are they sending emails based on app. completion date?

I'm in since the first day they sent the decision. I cant remember what date tho. hahaha. I wud like to ask all admitted student or berkeley alumni. How high is our chances to get some tuition relief, ADP things? What should i write in the financial aid application? I mean They said that it will be granted on the combination of need base and merit base.
For my background, I'm graduate in the best law school in my country. However, my ranking is around top35%. I was in many distinguished activity including several publication. A year of work experience.
Financial background, my dad has enuf to send me to berkeley. Some in my country will consider my family is rich. However, I think i have 2 llm. So,it will cost a lot for 2 degree in the US. He still got 3 more sons, and he needs to sent them all to US. each has to do 2 llm as well.
The thing is if i dont get any financial aid for berkeley. There's high chance wont pay for berkeley, I might have to go to Wisconsin instead. The tuition minus scholarship is only 28,000 while berkeley is 49,000. T_T.
Please help me!

Does anyone know if we aren´t going to receive news of admissions this week? I´m asking this because I think this week is spring break.
Posted Mar 14, 2011 20:16
I have just contacted the admission office. All the decision should be issued within next 48 hours.
Good luck to everyone...!
