I have a common question, that hopefully someone can help me out with. I am wondering about the admissions standards for schools like NYU and Fordham, because they seem to be very vague in describing them.
First the good, I am in the top 20% at a 4th tier school. I am a member on Law Rev., i have three book awards, i have earned an academic scholarship, and i am have spent the semester interning with an appellate judge.
now the bad....as i said i am at a 4th tier school....my undergrad and LSATS were subpar, and i spent the first year of my undergrad on academic probation. however, that was about 8 yrs ago.
so, any comments, suggestions? go easy on me. thanks!
Anyone accepted to NYU

Accepted as of today, Nov 8. Funny thing is I tried to log onto their "admitted students" link, which I had been doing for the last three weeks, and it worked. I was blown away. I have a similar background as you. JD from a top 100 (like 100). I did graduate cum laude. However, no journal experience. I say go for it. I looked at the app fee as just being the price of a good dinner - sacrifice the dinner and do it. Best of luck!

Yes.

Has anyone applying for the Fall Term received notification of admission (or rejection)?
Posts at Columbia reveal that admissions and rejections for the Fall Term were already being sent as early as mid-January. Does anyone know whether NYU releases admissions (or rejections) much later than Columbia?
Thanks. Getting a little anxious here.

"LL.M. applicants with foreign education credentials will be notified of the Committee on Graduate Admissions' decision on or about March 15."
Gotta be patient.

true...NYU has been known to reply on the date it gives...which will be March 15 this year.

I haven't heard from NYU so far. I think decisions will be released only on March 15.

Thanks lots. Just getting the jitters. Bumped into a friend today who already got admission from Georgetown as well, and NOT for the early admission, but the regular.
Anyway, is anyone planning to get the certificate in business and law offered to admitted LlM students? Just want to know what you think about it...
Thanks much

Hi Sofi,
Tuition fees are in the range of $28-$32 thousand. Living expenses, cost of books, laptop and other study materials are not yet included. Kinda expensive.

HI Neem
Thanks for your answer. I heard NYU has loans for international students, do you know about people who have taken them? Are they difficult to pay after finishing the LLM? I heard they get a 15 years term to pay, but I would like to know about people who have experienced that.

Hi,
I am also waiting to hear from NYU. Apparently, no one received admission notice from them yet.
However, if I get accepted I have no idea how to fund it...any info on this from current LL.M students?

Hi Sofi,
I have heard about loans to international students but i have a vague idea how to avail of them. what i know is that a US resident is required to be a co-maker for the loan. i am not sure about the terms and the 15-year repayment period you mentioned.
Hi Havetinja,
I have no idea as well how to fund it. Been talking to my dad but i dont know how he can swing it as well..... $50,000 is an ominous amount, i am not even starting to think about it.
