I sent my application before the deadline but received a notice of copleteness on March 7, which said that my application would be reviewed by the admissions committee. I do not really understand their admissions process. They review applications and make decisions before the deadline. It would seem best to review al applications and then make informed choices, since they would be able to compare the credentials of all applicants. That's only a thought...
Any news from Chicago?

Lucky applicants admitted in Chicago:
Where do you come from?
As far as geographic background is concerned in the selection process, I think that this information is relevant for people in the Standby Group or still waiting for a decision...
Anyway, congrats to all of you!! You're certainly among the top students of the world!

got my confirmation e-mail today. I'm a student from Belgium who got his e-mail of receipt of the application only 2 weeks ago. I will probably refuse the offer...

I'll do the same Rodrigo, hope to meet you next September. Chicago is one of the best LLM programs in the US, and also a great place to live for almost a year.
Yesterday I received 6 information e-mails from Dean Badger. I didn't get financial aid I applied for, did you?
I'm chilean, anybody else?

Hi JB,
I also received the information e-mails from Dean Badger and did not get the financial aid...Guess I'll have to get my financial aid from a generous Spanish bank...
Where do you intend to live? Downtown?, Regents?

Hi jap. On campus housing looks good for me. Downtown implies extra expenses (car, insurance, parking lot, fuel, etc.).
Do you know which of the on campus dorms. is the best?
I was told Regents is really nice, but more expensive than university housing. Any coments?

Hey guys, I also got several emails from Mr. Badger yesterday. He indicated that their decision on financial aid will be sending over in the following days till April 1. Does that mean I stand a chance of getting some financial aid?
I found Mr. Badger's profile on Chicago's web page. He must be a very interesting person.
I was also admitted to Columbia (without any financial aid). My final choice may largely depends on the financial aid decision of Chicago.

Hi all, I am probably going to rent a university apartment with my hubbie. They are really affordable, especially compared to NYC. I was lucky enough to get financial aid from Chicago too, so that helps.

Hi Jungle
I have no clue... I hope to find an answer in the letter they send.
Otherwise I've to search a little bit on the homepage. We can stay in contact and share what we found out. I send you my Email by personal message
Cheers

Hey Jess, congrats!, I think just a few people are given financial aid from americam universities. Where are u from?
If you don't mind, could you please tell us what / how much did they give (scholarship, tuition discount, merit grant, etc.).
Good luck to the ones still waiting financial aid.

I received my admission letter on February 22, no financial aid though.
Is it true that Chicago's LLM program is one of the most difficult? At least one where people work really hard? I'm not lazy but I want to enjoy my time there.

Hi Rocky,
I heard that "Chicago is where fun goes to die"...
Anyway, I think there is time for everything and that we can have for lots of fun there.

Do you know someone who studied there?
Posted Mar 23, 2006 18:01
Yes. A good friend of mine studied there last year and can tell you that from the pictures he used to send me not everything was studying...

Harvard or Chigaco, Chicago or Harvard? Any advice? I am inclined to go for Harvard. But Chicago has got a much smaller program and I certainly am attracted to the teaching methods and the 'we call our students by name-thing'. The entire student body consists of only 500 students!!!
Also, one of my research interests is law and economics, although not in the neoclassical sense. But Harvard is harvard of course, although many people have warned me not to go for the big name...
