I'm admitted in the NYU Interntioanl Tax Program LLM with no scholarship. I'm a foreign LLB. Need your comment:
(1) what's the reputation of this program? Do you think I should request to change to the Tax Program or even other? When I apply, I'm not serious of it.
(2) NYU gives me an application form of Wallace Scholarship. Any info about this scholarship?
(3) Does foreign lawyer with tax llm easy to find jobs in US?
Any comment to NYU International Tax Program

1) NYU is the best choice for tax: Ranked no. 1 indisputably. Far better than other tax programs.
2) No, sorry
3) Not at all.

To Mythicalman,
The NYU international tax program is really excellent (rank n°1) ! I applied to it but I do not have any answer yet (which is not very good I guess...). When did you receive your acceptation ? Where are you from ?
Thank you for your answers

I'm from China, receive the offer on 3 April by UPS.
I know NYU's Tax Program is No.1 but mine is International Tax Program for International Studens. Is the International Tax Program respected by the US employers and academia the same as Tax Program? If not, I'm considering changing to Tax Program.
Any foreign LLM of the Tax or International Tax Program find job in law firm or big 4 accounting firm? If I cannot find jobs in US, it will be a disaster for me since few employer in China can afford the pay sufficient to cover my loan for 60K tuition and living expenses in NYU.

I'v been admitted to serveral tax porograms (Boston U, Georgetown and Northwestern) , which one do you think is the best ?

To pooky, Northwestern is best choice.
Where're you from? Why're you so interested in tax program? Do you think the Tax Program is better than International Tax Program in NYU?

Myth: I'm sorry I am not able to answer to your question. Personally, I've applied to the ITP cause I'm really interested in International tax law. Should you wish to work in the US, the general tax program could be just more useful. It's just a thought.
It's very difficult to find a job in US for foreign lawyers, but you have a real advantage: you are chinese, China's economy is "the big deal" at the moment...and very few can speak mandarin...
see ya
to pooky: georgetown.

You do no seem to agree...
Why Georgetown ?
Why Northwestern ?
Im from France and still waiting for NYU's answer (very pessimistic as a lot of students have already receive acceptance letter)
To mythialman, I think the LLM in Taxation is better if you want to work in the US but Im not sure that foreign students could apply to this program. Anyway the ITP is an excellent program....

To me, I choose Northwestern simply because its brand name is better.
ITP is for international students. In my working experience, when we choose governing law in a contract, we may say PRC, HK or US law but never international law. In another word, in practice, the international law is mostly refer to a specific foreignn law and most probably US law. The internationa treay is easy to understand by self-study and most of which is also based on US law. So isn't it wiser to pick Tax program to have a solid basis in tax law?
Because of the prestigiuos existence of Tax program, I also wonder the ITP would be regarded as novel toy and get less respect thant the Tax program. The admission materials says that foreign students can select Tax program as well.
Chinese economy is very hot, I agree. But donot forget the population of China, there're so many brilliant people here and more and more people have LLM in US. Except special cases, their pay in China is just the same as my current pay. So I should consider the opportunity cost.
Good luck pooky! You still have chance since no rejection was received.
