I jst finished my undergrad. I applied to Berkeley this year and got admitted. But now i'm a bit confused coz i don't know exactly what i reallly want to specialize in. I'm interested in Financial stuffs, business law, and a bit of IP. Also, I learned that Berkeley has a strong rep on IP.

I want some advice whether I should go this year or deny it and apply again prob in the one or two years? I apply to only few schools and berkeley is my top choice.

RR LL.M.

Since you´re asking for advise, this is what I would tell a friend of mine. If you are a foreign lawyer and just about to graduate, I would work in my own country for at least two years before applying for the LL.M. degree, I think you can appreciate and contribute more to the program this way. Even though going to Berkeley right after your undergrad would be a great experience, with two or more years of practice in your home country the experience is for sure going to be greater. I waited 4 years before applying for my studies abroad and in those 4 years I´ve been working full time during the day and got my master´s degree in taxation at night. Now I feel really prepared to get the most out of my LL.M. degree. Hope this helps, but just remember something, sometimes we have to act out of pure guts and forget about everything else. I f you really want to go this year and you feel that it is the best for you and your career, JUST DO IT!

You can try to ask for a deferral and go to Berkeley next year.
