Hello everyone,
I've been accepted by Duke and Cornell, and am waiting to hear from CLS. I do not have too high hopes for CLS so I will probably have to make my mind between Duke and Cornell.
But it's such a hard choice! I don't really care about the location and whether the social life will be great or not, all I care about is the reputation and excellency.
Which one is "better", and why? HELP!
David

Hi David,
Congrats - Cornell seems to have the better rep. Both are the same in academic quality.
Out od curiosity, did you get a scholarship? How will you pay for it? These days even the biggest scholarships are insufficient for the US!
Best wishes

I know your feelings, David. They are both excellent schools. You won't go wrong in any one of them.
Considering their non-academic reputation, I think Duke is a little bit superior to Cornell in the US.

David, I think that your decision should not be that difficult. I think that Duke is a much better option. I've written it elsewhere here but will repeat - I am currently at the Duke LL.M. program and have received as many as 3 offers from leading NY firms (Skadden, Weil Gotshal and Sidley Austin). I don't think that you can do better than that if you go elsewhere. Feel free to get in touch if you want more info - my email is tomer.schwartz@law.duke.edu

David, with all respet to Tomer´s opinion, I made my mind to go to Cornell among other law schools, such as Duke, for instance. Keep in mind that Cornell is an Ivy League institution, far more prestigious abroad. Anyway, both are greata and congratulations! Best regards,

Cornell is just not comparable to Duke. Reputation of Duke in the U.S., at least, is far beyond Cornell reputation. Go to Duke. I had an amazing year here. The faculty is amazing. If you are into IP or internatinal law, Duke is among the best 5 law school of the country. I'm an IP scholar and this year at Duke was an extraordinary experience. Reichman, Boyle, Lange and Rai are among the professor teaching here. You are gonna get job everywhere after a year at Duke.
