Thanks orangesunny and Sudkhet, I set my heart at rest when I heard the news from you guys about the weather as well. I'm sure I will enjoy my life there.

I would definitely choose Vanderbilt over USC. A degree from Vanderbilt will travel much farther than one from USC will and will look much better on your resume. I don't think a USC degree is worth a lot outside California. And in terms of other factors to consider, USC is located in a not so great part of town. I've been to the campus, which itself is ok but the area is considered pretty bad by LA locals. So that's another thing to consider.

Definitely Vanderbilt!

-Vanderbilt's reputation in the USA is absolute top
-It's international reputation is also very great
-Very strong in business law (and health care law and...)
-Small LL.M. program
-Nashville is one of the booming US cities according to Forbes and other magazines, and would be very nice to live

definitely USC. USC is strong for its coporate and financial law and also has a better rank than vandy for years! living in USC is also quite better than in nashville.

What the fuck are you talking about?

OVERALL (LAW) US NEWS RANKING
2008 both 16th
2007 both 17th
2002-2006 Vandy 17th; USC 18th
2001 USC 17th; Vandy 18th
1999-2000 Vandy 16th; USC 18th
...
And you conclude USC is better ranked? Are you from the moon?

BUSINESS LAW
-Leiter's last ranking
USC is 0.2 better (10th vs. 15th place)
See http://www.leiterrankings.com/faculty/2003faculty_businesslaw.shtml
-Leiter's last but one ranking
Vandy is mentioned as very strong (=top 15). USC is not mentioned.
See http://www.leiterrankings.com/faculty/2002faculty_topchoices.shtml#bus

You conclude USC is strong for its corporate and financial law and you say nothing about Vandy??

Nashville has no beach, that's correct.
