for good colleges you can google ranking llm uk.
oxbridge are top of the league and a class apart. they feature in top ten universities of the world for most subjects they offer, including law.
next i think are london university colleges, of which lse is internationally most renowned, ucl is equally highly regarded in the uk, and kcl has been its rival.
for next list of colleges you can google. also it depends on your subject choice. eg cambridge is good for international law oxford for private laws and EU laws.
my situation is very different form most people,so i have to factor in a lot of personal considerations for a choice that i make so it is not based purely on career/profession/studies. money is a consideration, and if i manage a scholarship, i will take admission in lse in corporate laws. i will then disregard money factor and llm definitely loks good on cv at some later stage, thouhg i know it will not make mcu difference, but given tow equaly deserving candidates, llm may become the deciding factor, though i may be partial in this analysis. i will not be able to take up oxbridge, and i think i have the marks for those as well because i have to necessarily stay in london for family considerations. residence is mandatory.
llm is good for academics, not for a career as a lawyer, so i think it is a waste of money if you have to fund it yourself.
to add to qualifications you should have relevant work experience, which means improve cv, . academic qualifications alone will not help much. even in college you should be doing some extra-curricular, some moots, or internships, some voluntary work, or sports (it is imp in these firms for their business development prospects). in college make friends and that will also help you professionally.

Hi......you have a very gud ques...we'll..all i can say tat an MBA with Law is extremely good! From UK it has absolutely no value......! and TRUST me! any mba graduate from India who has done his/her MBA from a A+ school or even B+ school will outcast a MBA graduate from UK....and this has a very live example goin on in my company....MBA from India is much much preferred over MBA from UK and australia. u have no job value wen u do an mba from australia! it will cost u 17 lakhs...doin an MBA from UK and around 15 doin from australia....! Kindly excuse me if im a bit tooo blunt...but its not my opinion...it is the scenario within the corporates..which is seen now a days. All that i am writing here is not my view...it is the fact. our country has the best B-schools in the world now.

U have a very gud option of preparing for CAT n stuff from India....or in case if u only opt fr goin outside go fr a gud GMAT score and u can very well get admissions in US/UK.....again here the question of work ex will arise ...2 years minimum...etc.. i can well understand ur dilemma...because it was well wth me...personally speaking...i took a 6 months coaching from TIME...for CAT 2007...! I opted out for an LLM because it is really a piece of cake ....just u need to throw money...and u have the degree...! i pose one question to all...! have u people ever heard any person flunking in the LLM exams from UK....if no...then THINK WHY NOT! the answer is the EXAMS are EASY! even MBA....Its EASY outside...! LLM from US has a gud value....and also MBA...former neeeds cash and the latter needs score in GMAT...! i have focussed myself now goin for CS....all tat i can say!

Hi....i have graduated this year...itself...and i am planning to go for CS....i am replying to all my posts..all on the basis of my experience so far i have gained working in the legal cell of my organisation....which is 1 year...as i was also wrkng as a internee before joining it. people who have done their LLm after their law....want quick money..but are satisfied with it. So LLm quickly after law....depends on u..how u source ur funds from...so tat u repay it back...people from US ..LLM are much better placed...approximately 25- 30 lakhs...is the expenditure...and u will get a gud start if u do it from a gud law school....CS is difficult...as it a proff degree in itself like CA....

i'm a final year student from the University of Pune. and i intend to apply for LL.M. in LSE, UCL, KCL and Cambridge..
My aggregate for 1st four years is 60.8%. i've done a diploma in International commercial arbitration and pursuing IPR diploma from NLS, Bangalore. i want to pursue my LL.M. in IP Laws or Arbitration and represented my college in 2 state level moot courts.. i've consistently stood amongst the top 3 students in my college.
what chances do i stand in the above colleges if my aggregate score for all five years comes to 61-62%?
I'm really confused... plz help.. i'l be really very grateful...
Most LLM programs in the UK require a 2.1 - so your educational background seems about right. You may have trouble getting into Cambridge without a First (70 plus mark at British standards). Make sure you choose the right college for you speciality though. If you want to study IP laws - then Queen Mary is the only UL college to have a very strong speciality in that area.
From all the colleges, I would say UCL will be the hardest to get into (after Cambridge). LSE, on the other hand, keeps hiking up their fees, which puts students off.

Hi.....ok lets start from the beginning....first of all congrats for ur achievements in the law arena....so far....if you land up with something like 62...its fair...! ...i can't really force myself to say gud...because ive done my law from del..and people in my batch applied fr LLM with 64 % minimum...try to get beyond 65 in ur law....and im sure u will be called by gud universities. ALWAYS apply fr scholarships....and ur moots n all will only count..if u are called fr an interview...especially fr rhodes scholarships etc...or if u want a placement from ur college in some corporates...
For IP laws i think US is a better option. My friends and colleagues from New Pierce law Centre , US.have done
well...and u land up with a gud law firm once u return to India. Expenses are abt 25-30 lakhs without scholarship and 15-20..l with scholarship.
If u do the same course in UK, London...my honest advise is go with a scholarship...because it's really costly...

no...UK is cheaper than US for all the programmes...i.e. for LLM as well as MBA ( except for few Universities) like oxford---LSE--etc.... LLM in UK is for 1 year...n wat i mentioned ...was the name of the law school in US in IPR...New Pierce Law Centre..which is not fr 2 years bt for 1 year...and the cost is around 25..if u go without scholarship..can u kindly mention the name of the universities that u saw which is fr 2 year programme and in wat area and that cheap especially in US/UK ?
Posted Nov 08, 2007 10:07
I hope that u know abt the expenses in UK especially for lodging and staying...it comes to 10 lakhs....living comfortably without Part Time wrkng...and in London...it costs a fortune...even living inside a match Box

Happy Diwali to you too....we'll ...i wanted to ask tat which university in UK is a 2 year programme...in LLM..thatr u mentioned in ur last post. Abt the second query...i wanted to say that yes ...London is much expensive ...but US is much more expensive comparatively..abt 10 lakhs more ...than all the programmees in UK if u compare...it ws a general view frm my side.
is Manchaster gud? is Glasgow Gud? they are less in comparison with Oxford i suppose? if "yes" thn i dont think so tat oxford passouts are tat impressive....in comparison with a Guy who has been wrkng in an Indian Corporate Law firm fr 2 years. If u are coming back to India after doin ur PG ...then also u will have to deal with Indian Company Act, 1956...gettng wat im tryin to say///??
we'll these are my thoughts...correct me if i am wrong... i dont think so there is any lacuna in logic...that im sayin...
