U of Nottingham, Kent and Aberdeen

May I ask which "third-world" country you're talking about???

I'm also from an alleged "third-world" country (even though I don't like this label...) and may be able to help you a bit. I'm from Brazil BTW.

In my opinion, I'd cross off Kent to begin with... reputation-wise, it's the worst option. Of course, people are going to say the Guardian and other ranking have placed Kent above Aberdeen. But having studied in the UK, and knowing also another handful of people that did the same, I reckon Kent should be the first one you take off your list.

Now, between Nottingham and Aberdeen, I think you've got a tougher choice to make...

Both seem to have good overall reputations in the UK (in my opinion being Aberdeen a bit above Nottingham, but that may as well be just because I'm a sucker for century-old universities - and Aberdeen was founded, if I'm not mistaken in the 1400s).

Honestly, if you plan to go back to your home country, I doubt there's gonna be any difference between the two. So it'd be basically a choice on where it's nicer to live in and where you can find the best professors. I'm not familiar with the criminal justice programs of those universities. My fiancée applied to Nottingham and Aberdeen last year (for the international criminal justice program) but her decision was based only on the overall reputation and on the fact that we were trying to avoid London... even though we ended up there and, quite frankly, loved it!

Maybe if you let us know a bit more about what you wanna do with your LLM, we might be able to help more...

Go to Aberdeen for what they are renowned for (Oil & Gas). All other programs there are 'fair' but not the favorite child of the school.

Also the law library is not really appealing. I do not know anything about your particular program - but in some courses there you might even encounter persons without a phD - lecturing students (what is very questionable in my opinion).
