Apparently Cambridge Trusts decisions (Gates, CHESS etc) are being released today... according to Student Room some successful applicants have already heard. I think this is bad news... I've not heard anything :( Good luck to everyone waiting on any funding or outstanding decisions!

Yes, unfortunately oxford gave me a red light this time round, otherwise I would not bother with cambridge. perhaps you're right, i should not be taking it on you, but remaining calm with cambridge is not at all easy.I have no hard feelings towards oxford in spite of rejection, because it always responded to all sorts of my queries, and within 3 days max. At least they treated me seriously.
Cambridge on the other hand, treats people like crp. When I see posts praising MS Wade I go wild. She NEVER responded to any of my emails. Ever. When by miracle I managed to get her on the phone she either promises something that she never delivers or she says that she doesn't know. Why should she, she's being paid for it.
I got in to a few other decent unis(not Oxbridge class but London based) and they all have been cool and pleasant at EVERY stage (including oxford) and made you feel welcome. Cambridge makes you feel like a trespasser.

i know you're frustrated but i would advise you not to take this so personally. cambridge is not treating you personally with disrespect. its admission system is creaky and old-fashioned, and is running a week or two late this year. deep breath. you'll hear back soon enough and fingers x'd you'll get some good news..

Perhaps Cambridge should ask Oxford about the logisitics of bringing an admissions system into the 21st century. After all, the law faculties in both Oxford and Cambridge share a reputation for excellent. Perhaps it's time for the Cambridge administrators to get their act together and make their admission process more "user friendly".
I could be wrong, but I heard somewhere on the grapevine that Ms Wade is the same "Miss Wade" who won the Wimbledon Women's Tennis Final back in 1977. If this is, in fact true, then I hope Ms Wade's competitive instincts will prompt her into making the Cambridge Admissions system just as fine as its Oxford counterpart.

It has been mentioned that financial aid decisions might have been released. Has anyone been informed of anything? Good luck!
Posted Apr 28, 2011 11:06
Has anyone had any luck calling Cambridge to get any news on what's happening for those applicants that still have not heard the outcome?

I still did'nt receive a decision. Hard, probably borderline cases left...

I spoke to Ms Wade on Tuesday-after a week of trying to get through-and she told me that some decisions are yet to be made. She said that I should hear either on Wednesday or Thursday (today) even if a decision has not yet been made, to give us updates on what's going on.
However, I do remember seeing a post a while back in which it was claimed that Ms Wade had said that all decisions would be made by the end of the week and I think it was referring to last week. So I do not know how much faith can be placed in what I have been told.
I don't think Ms Wade has any control over when the decisions/information comes to her.

Personally, I have been told twice about 'the end of the week' and the last time in was on Tue, 19th April... I do not believe her any more and see no point in calling.

ms wade is just the administrator. she's not making the decisions. she's just telling you what she's been told by the academics: that they will be done soon.

Miss Wade was the last British woman to win Wimbledon (in 1977). So please none of the "just an administrator" stuff. Miss Wade has many strings to her racquet (if you'll forgive the mixed metaphor). I would suggest you google "Virginia Wade" and you'll know exactly the formidable woman you are dealing with.

Dear Trinity Insignia, I can't help but wonder why Miss Wade's name is now Susan instead of Virginia. Perhaps she is trying to avoid the unwanted attention regarding her triumphant past as a tennis player :)
I am not trying to imply that Miss Susan Wade has any less grace or sport spirit than Virginia. However, I highly doubt that she is the Miss Wade you believe her to be.

hey guys!
just to get a rough idea: to those who have been accepted at some college already, how long did it take until you received the college offer after your status at camsis showed "seeking college membership"?

Hey,
I have a question and it's kind of urgent. I have been accepted in both Oxford and Cambridge, I am thinking about going to Cambridge and turning down Oxford's offer (which I have to do today) but I still don't know the conditions of my offer from Cambridge. Is it always necessary to obtain one's degree with honours? My only condition at Oxford is the obtention of my degree, regardless of the grades... What kinf of offers have you been made at Cambridge??

I will share my disappointment regarding the camb. administration as well.. Although Ms Wade always responded to my emails and was particularly kind, after the receipt of acceptance she answered neither of my mails!! 20 days have passed and ultimately I sent the same mail at the BGS and fortunately they replied next day. It is inexcusable for such a renowned Faculty not to answer promptly or even belatedly! Even low ranked, uknown Universities that require not fees at all to be paid, provide more emphasis on communication with their students or applicants. This must be somehow fixed...

Many of the applicants received standard academic conditions (i.e. First Class Degree). However, some (me included) received non standard academic conditions (min. 9.0/10).

What do you mean by min. 9.0/10? I am currently doing a master's degree (I graduated last year) and it is much more difficult to get good grades than it was as an undergaduate student. I am just not sure that I would be able to meet such conditions as first class honours. Do you know if the conditions set are less demanding for students who already graduated?
Posted Apr 29, 2011 13:55
I graduated last year as well and have already received my official conditional offer without any academic conditions. So I would guess your masters degree grades are not crucial. its rather about your undergrad degree.

Great, thanks for your answer jones49, it really helps!
I was told that many people do accept both Oxford and Cambridge in the first place and make up their mind later. Is anyone of you doing that this year? Do you think that it could be a problem to do so?
