Hi Delane, the scholarship we've been talking about today is the Chevenning Scholarship. The Australian students were sent an email last night, letting us know that Australian applications have opened and are closing again very, very soon. If you haven't received the email, I'm assuming it's because you're not an Aussie. If you are and were somehow left off the list, let me know and I'll send you the details.

Thanks Glennie. I am not from Australia so presumably my national contingent has not yet opened. I will give it a few days before I pester Miss Wade!

No problems. I'm not sure that Ms Wade will be able to offer any answers - my understanding is that the admission process differs from country to country. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be able to figure that out with some quick Googling and if there are scholarships available for your country, hopefully BoGS will let you know. Good luck and congrats on the offer!

Hey guys,
I was following your posts for some months now and was lil a bit worried with some people claiming they have received offers already. However, a good friend of mine, a current LLM student at Cambridge wrote me today, that LLM secretary had told him that so far, no offers had been made. I do not know what to think...

Oh dear. Is the truthfulness of those who purport to have recieved offers being challenged? I have seen this on threads in the past (esp for Harvard) and they weren't pretty!
Posted Feb 18, 2011 19:43
You may ask yourself what pleasure one would derive from falsely proclaiming an offer on an anonymous thread?! :)
Posted Feb 18, 2011 19:44
Apparently, Ms Wade told my friend that the Committee has not even deliberated yet, which is very strange
Posted Feb 18, 2011 19:50
Haha well, they have certainly deliberated on a few of us!
May I suggest that we revert the conversation back to a positive tone? I find it quite helpful to keep abreast of scholarship opportunities and college admission information on this thread as I am sure many others do; however, I am loath to engage in tit-for-tat posts that are ill-spirited and would prefer to just start a new forum for a more proactive dialogue if this continues..

I think it is far more likely that there was some confusion between the person currently doing the LL.M and his contact (who probably isn't really allowed to discuss the matter anyway) than it is that numerous people on here would lie about getting offers. They have nothing to gain and there are a considerable number of people who have been lucky enough to received offers. I think it's fantastic news that they have, and I'm sure there was simply some confusion which perhaps means your friend doesn't know the whole story. Faith in people is definitely where I stand! I don't think we are in a position to question people who we really know nothing about. Congratulations to all of you who have received offers, I hope your friend was simply mistaken, and also that all of the rest of us hear soon!

Sorryyy, I agree, I just wrote that at exactly the same time! Sorry!

Bl**dy hell, people need to stop emailing me during UK business hours - my poor heart just can't take the stress of discovering a new email and the disappointment when it's not from Cambridge.
No news here. :(

My Posts would demonstrate that I was one of the most panicking ones...what good could i possibly do by fabricating? I didn't even need to submit a post to keep everyone updated!
Anyway good luck to those still waiting -my friend was told that the Committee is meeting regularly in which decisions are made.

Really hoping we'll hear something this week! It's good to know that they're still making decisions and that some people got their offers really late in the past years...
I'm just hoping there won't be any conditions impossible for me to meet... Good luck everyone!

For people who have received offers, out of curiosity, how long do you have to accept it?

The e-mail and the attachment did not set any specific deadline.

For 2010-11, we did not have to accept the Law Faculty's offer until early September 2010. But in practical terms, if you decide to attend, at some point over the summer (if not sooner) you will accept the University's offer via self-service and accept your College's offer of a place. If you are self-funded or have an outside source of funding, you will also make arrangements with your College over the summer to have those fees paid, and will likely find out about housing no later than August/early September. There is very little pressure regarding accepting an Cambridge offer of admission, and you certainly will not need to do so before you've compared all of your other offers, found out about any possible sources of funding, etc. It's the flip side of the frustration that you guys are dealing with right now: just as Cambridge feels no pressure to get back to you quickly, they will not pressure you to get back to them very quickly.

I received a conditional offer this morning. It came by email. No information on funding. I'm from North America.
Congratulations to all those who have been admitted and best of luck to all those waiting.
