The Definitive 2011 Cambridge Thread

This sort of life would be refreshing after the private practice of law.

Tell me about it! I'd already decided to head away on a working holiday before I applied to Cambridge and now only have 20 days left at work. Not that I'm counting or anything...

Good idea. I say if we don't get a response by June 1st, we all admit each other and then show up for the first day of classes! On the theory that no news is good news!!! =)

We could also use an excellent a silentio argument of this absence of any news... If they would not like us to join the program, they would have explicitly stated so.

Greetings to your wise idea, dear Greek friend!
What have we, the (possible) class of 2011-12, wronged the Degree Committee so badly for them to treat us this way??
A plausible explanation may be that they believe in the Maya prediction of the end of the world in 2012. Hence, there is hardly any rush to admit new students with all of the humanity awaiting to become extinct by the end of the first term.

Hopefully! Checking camsis has become an obsession, I really need something to happen soon...

A friend of mine, who is a member of the Cambridge class of 2011, called me yesterday to tell me that "A big pile of applications waiting to be processed into Camsis was sitting on Ms. Wade's desk" when he went by her office on friday. I'm not sure if that mean we will hear back this week or not but....that's where we are.

Good luck to everyone this week!!

I'm trying to cut back on my CamSIS checking, since the Faculty's website makes it clear that offers will be sent via email first. All this has really done is transfer my obsession to another medium...

Besides, offers from the "Dominium and OK_Computer School of Law" won't show up on CamSIS!

That would be great but, from previous threads, I understand that the BoGS is rather slow when it comes to update Camsis...

Anyone knows whether it's a good idea to directly contact Ms. Wade to get info or is it just a waste of time?

Checking the llm-guide is certainly more fun than checking camsis.. ;-) I'm just double-checking on camsis really, in case they changed their policy this year or an offer e-mail just accidentally ended up in my junk-mail folder (this clearly shows how obsessed I am...)

That pile of applications on Ms Wade's desk does sound promising!

I can't help "double checking" either! LLM Guide is definitely more fun and it sounds as though that pile might cause a flurry of action here soon...

I don't know who your friend in the current LLM class is, but he definitely doesn't know too much about how the system works. Mrs Wade does not enter the app status into CAMSiS, this is done by the BoGS. Mrs Wade is responsible for keeping track of the organization of the substantive decisions with regard to the admissions committee. So the fact that apps are lying on her desk shouldn't necessarily make you hope for a sudden online update.

I think it would be fantastic if Ms. Wade joined LLM Guide. It would be good propaganda for the University, and we could get an insider's view of the process.

I'm doing the exact same thing since December. First with LSE, now Cambridge; perhaps it's good news to know that Oxford doesn't have any online trackers of this sort!
