As for the nasty comments, don't be too hard!
I think he was having a go at what we call 'repartee' or 'banter'. Good natured, barbed but witty conversation.

Hi all!
I was accepted today to the LL.M. program, but pending conditions.
I believe one of them will be the culmination of my law degree, which I already did. I ended up with a 2.88/3.00 (3.88/4.00) GPA, although I don't know if that's a first class honours.

Does anyone here have any idea? Because I'm all pumped up about going but this could be a potential disaster if I find out later that I wont be able to meet that requirement.

I am not too sure what the conditions are...
but I will be shocked if scoring 2.88/3 (i.e. 96%) does not qualify a 1st-class (unless your University is so lenient in giving 100% to everyone)

anyway, I don't think you need to worry about not meeting the conditions provided that you have the funding.

I think it will be simply a matter of making the case to them that your mark is from a reputable university and in the top ten percent of marks. If so, you'll be just fine.

Hiya,

My camsis status changed from 'under consideration by degree comm' to 'awaiting decision by the board of graduate studies' today. KPI: 2 weeks from conditional offer.

On a side note, anyone else waiting for the CCT/COT scholarship news? Today is officially the date they may send out offers; but it'll drag till July.

To those still waiting for the LLM offers - hang in there.

ASM and AayuA,

I won't be too miffed about it. Some applicants jump stages; but i am not sure if the 3 of us made it in time to be considered for the CCT/COT. I am not certain, but there seems to be a deadline floating around that the degree committee must have recommended their ranked nominees by end March.

DoomedOptimist,

I contacted the CCT/COT to inquire on the status of my scholarship application. They informed me that they are only forwarded with our application once we receive the official email from the Graduate Admission. And since i have not received mine, CCT/COT had yet to also be forwarded with my scholarship application. I am rather concerned whether there would be any awards left when they are forwarded with my application. Anyone who's received an award of the CCT/COT scholarship, please do share with us.

Nah I'm not.

I don't get it though it's not as if your fifty quid is going to make anyone there give two poops about you being desperate to go to their university.

What a douchebag. I hope you get rejected from the worst university there is.

I agree. He totally is. I think a lot of people just had Cambridge as an end goal and this was the motivation behind years of working their behinds off to get a first class. I know it inspired me and finally in my final year I am heading into exams with a first overall. I did an undergrad before my LL.B. and I can tell you I worked twice as hard for half the reward during my time studying law.

The terms this person is using - "lads" and "quid" sound Irish to me.

Oi tink ders moar to Oireland dan dis pal.

I was just saying it as it is yo, no idea why you got so wildly wound up by a general observation about admissions processes at leading universities. It takes a while because they've got better things to do than read about people doing meedja law at yooni and your 50 shekels (better?) won't change that.

I've no idea why anyone would go through their entire undergraduate degree hoping that they'd get a chance to piss away another 15 grand doing another degree but whatever floats your boat. There's plenty of other "rewards" for doing an LLB that sound overwhelmingly better like riding loads of birds and spending your weekends off your tits on champagne in skyscrapers.

I'm here all week.

Hey, all of us accepted for the MCL course should form a group on facebook (if there isn't already one). At lease we can get to know each other before the course begins!

from the above replies, it seems that it can take you 3 weeks to know the conditions, not to say which college you are in...

I got my conditional offer over 7 weeks ago and it still says "under degree consideration", no college membership - nothing.

So don't get your hopes up!
